A Wedding Night Gone Terribly Wrong novel Chapter 132

"We need to notify your parents," Nelly said. "Let Declan drive you back so you can have a proper talk and get engaged first."

Having vented her anger and dealt with Holden and Iris, Winifred had returned to reality.

She said plainly, "I don't have parents."

Nelly's eyes widened. "An orphan?"

"Yes."

"Oh."

That was even better. It saved them from dealing with terrible in-laws and potential conflicts. She certainly didn't want to push another girl into jumping off a building.

"Then you can make the decisions for your own marriage. Tell me, how much of a dowry do you want?"

Winifred replied, "Ten billion. Just the money is fine; I'll buy the jewelry myself."

Throwing out an astronomical number was the perfect way to put an end to Declan's nonsense so they could all part ways.

Sure enough, Nelly's expression became exaggerated.

Ten billion to marry a wife? Who ever heard of such a thing?

"Winifred, think about it again. Did you mean one million?"

Seeing how gentle and dutiful she appeared, there was no way she could say something so absurd. It must have been a slip of the tongue.

Winifred remained firm. "I didn't misspeak. My personal goal is a ten billion dowry before I marry."

Nelly stared at her.

Was she daydreaming?

No matter how good she was, she was just an orphaned doctor. Marrying into the family without a dowry or backing from her own family meant Declan wouldn't gain any advantages.

They were only getting her as a person.

She was just a woman, equipped with the same parts as any other woman. How could she possibly be worth ten billion?

Later, when she was leaving, Declan offered to drive her. She declined, and he went back to his room to catch up on his sleep.

It was getting late, and only a few landscape lights were on in the garden.

Winifred walked along the narrow cobblestone path. The thick foliage on both sides completely enveloped her petite frame in the shadows.

Suddenly, a dark silhouette darted out from around the corner.

Holden appeared before her like a ghost.

"Winifred, you keep saying you're strong, but don't get mad. Nobody knows your stamina better than I do."

His gaze swept over her. The implication was painfully obvious.

"So, after leaving me, you need two men?"

His Adam's apple bobbed, his voice tight. "That day, from the moment you entered Leland's office to when you came out, I timed it. Exactly forty-two minutes. It's clear Leland's stamina is lacking."

"But, Winifred, Declan is even worse. He's been living a life of debauchery for six years. He's even less of a man than Leland."
