Yes!
She needed to call Holden immediately.
With just one word from him, Winifred would obediently rush to the hospital to save Rochelle.
Winifred’s love for Holden was the ultimate, tragic devotion.
She listened to everything he said.
Jasmine dialed Holden's number, but a mechanical voice informed her, "The number you have dialed is busy."
She couldn't get through.
Frantic, Jasmine called Madeleine back.
"Ma'am, I can't reach Winifred! Pass the message to Mr. Lockwood! She loves him; he can definitely order her to do it."
Madeleine sighed heavily.
Jasmine quickly reassured her, "Ma'am, I've seen with my own eyes how much she loves him. All he has to do is say the word, and she'll come running, begging to be of service."
Madeleine replied, "I'm just worried she hates me too much to intervene."
Jasmine scoffed. "Nonsense! You're his mother! In other words, you're the mother-in-law she respects and wants to suck up to. How could she hold a grudge against you for long? If he just beckons her, she won't dare hold this against you."
That was true.
Winifred loved Holden deeply; she would die for him. Madeleine knew that better than anyone.
To manipulate Winifred, all Holden had to do was snap his fingers.
The only problem was, Holden was giving Iris her wedding gifts tonight and happily escorting the Morgan family back home.
Calling him away now meant he wouldn't be able to stay with Iris.
Iris would feel neglected...
Jasmine offered comforting words, "Don't worry, Ma'am. Getting him to ask Winifred for help is just to save Rochelle. Give Winifred a little taste of sweetness to coax her. Iris will understand. Let her endure a little grievance for now. Once Winifred cures Rochelle, he'll drop her instantly."
Madeleine agreed. "That's the only way. Iris will just have to endure it for a bit. It's just..."
It was a free win for Winifred.
If Holden came out to coax her, she'd be thrilled, her hopes for him rekindling.
So, where was Winifred?
No one could have guessed that she was still at the hospital!
She was in the maternity ward on the 18th floor, hiding behind a wall outside the operating room, watching.
After Jasmine kicked her out, she felt hungry and went to buy boiled corn outside a maternity shop near the hospital. There, she bumped into Arthur Seward's youngest daughter, Faye.
Arthur Seward had been the Lockwoods' head butler for decades.
Everyone praised his character and work ethic—kind, approachable, and never making things difficult for anyone.
Winifred, too, had once believed... Arthur was a good man.
When she was imprisoned back then, she had considered him her most trusted confidant.
After her divorce, pregnant with quadruplets and desperate to find Holden, she still trusted him implicitly, getting into his car and agreeing to his driver's suggestion to switch vehicles...
When she was thrown into the river, Arthur was absolutely involved!
Anyway, when she ran into Faye, the girl was trying to buy a postpartum belly band for her sister-in-law, who had just been transferred for an emergency C-section.
