Although Holden loved her and spoiled her endlessly, he had a company to run. His time at home was limited.
Iris realized Yvette was right. She decided to call Quentin Adams.
She could use this downtime to promote beauty products. First, sharing skincare routines would help win back her female demographic and rebuild her fan base. Second, any press was good press. She could use her current infamy and massive traffic to advertise Iris-Adams Biopharma's star products.
She desperately needed that beauty cream.
She stood up and walked out onto the balcony to call Quentin.
Yvette sat alone in the living room, waiting for Holden.
The encounter with Winifred was still eating away at her.
Not long after, Holden walked through the door.
Yvette stood up to greet him.
"Well, look who it is," Holden teased, looking surprised. "What brings you home?"
Yvette was an amateur model who loved extreme sports. She lived on her own and rarely came back to the family estate.
"I need to talk to you," Yvette said, tossing a large shopping bag to him.
"For me?" Holden looked down at the bag.
Inside was a high-end designer polo, cargo pants, and a pair of hiking boots.
Yvette pointed upstairs. "Let's talk in your room."
Holden carried the outdoor gear upstairs.
"Want to go hiking with me?" he asked.
Holden remained silent.
"I told her you were marrying Iris today, and she was completely dead inside. I never thought the woman who loved you more than her own life would just... walk away and jump into someone else's arms."
A heavy silence filled the room.
After a long pause, Holden asked quietly, "She was buying men's clothes?"
"Yeah," Yvette said, leaning forward. "With a massive, expensive bodyguard trailing behind her. Iris said it was just a bodyguard, but... whoever she's with now, he must be incredibly powerful."
"And that's why you're mad? You bought the same clothes out of spite?"
"It's hard to explain," Yvette muttered, biting her lip.
"It's like... like a little stray dog we raised. We didn't like her, so we threw her out. But then... someone else picks her up, treats her like royalty, and suddenly she's glowing. Now it just feels like... we lost something."
