The moment the words left Iris's mouth, Yvette and Kian both instantly objected.
"Don't be ridiculous!"
"Stop playing matchmaker!"
Iris just laughed, gently shaking Yvette's arm. "Come on, what's your type then?"
"I don't know," Yvette said.
"No way. You're gorgeous, successful, and independent. You've got men lining up across the ocean for you. Your standards must be sky-high."
The flattery made Yvette smile. She decided to humor her. "I want someone pure and innocent. Someone I can actually settle down and marry."
"A sweet, devoted younger guy?" Iris rested her chin on Yvette's shoulder, playfully twirling a strand of her blonde hair.
Yvette's mood lifted completely. "It's all about chemistry. If I see someone I like, I'll go for it."
Iris turned to Kian. "What about you? What kind of girl do you like?"
"What do you think?" Kian stared deeply at her.
Their eyes met.
Iris blinked. She knew Kian cared deeply for her. Over the past three years, out of loyalty to Holden, he had kept his feelings buried, silently harboring a crush. She wasn't blind to it.
But what could she do? There was only one of her, and her heart was taken.
She adjusted her expression, offering him a sweet, supportive smile. "There's no rush. Take your time with the blind dates. You'll find the right girl eventually."
She understood why men went crazy for her. She had the aura of a star; her charm was naturally intoxicating.
Thinking about that brought her mind back to Winifred, and she suddenly felt a lot better.
Winifred had managed to get one man to fall for her. But Iris? She had countless exceptional men obsessed with her.
She glanced back toward Winifred's table.
"Please, Kian? Help me out, please~" she whined sweetly.
Kian let out a long sigh, stood up, and did as she asked.
The second he was gone, Iris sprinted over to Winifred's table, looming over her accusatorially. "Are you stalking us again?!"
Winifred, who had been focused on her food, looked up, completely baffled.
Iris immediately realized she had made a mistake. If Winifred wasn't stalking them... then she really was just here on a date with Leland. The Emerald Village Super League was famous nationwide, drawing teams from everywhere. It made perfect sense that a guy like Leland would be into sports, just like Holden. Accusing her of stalking them here made zero sense.
She quickly pivoted to mocking her. "Haven't you ever heard of karma? Look at who Leland is, and look at what you are. He's just bored. The second he's tired of you, he'll throw you away."
Winifred set down her silverware and stood up.
She was a good inch taller than Iris. Since they were both wearing flats, Iris was forced to tilt her head up just to meet her gaze. Winifred looked down at her, her expression cold and commanding.
"You should worry about yourself. Madeleine was arrested, and she gave you up. You won't just be suspended—the entire entertainment industry is going to blacklist you. The whole internet will tear you apart. You'll be universally despised!"
