A Wedding Night Gone Terribly Wrong novel Chapter 256

The man was radiant and undeniably handsome.

And the woman... her flawless, delicate face was so breathtakingly perfect it looked as if it had been sculpted by the gods thousands of years ago, kept hidden in a celestial vault to absorb pure spiritual energy, only to accidentally fall to earth in this lifetime.

She walked through the mundane world, but she didn't look like she belonged in it. She was too striking, too luminous.

A girl walking past Winifred eating a pastry suddenly looked completely washed out, like she had just crawled out of the dirt.

They were a stunningly matched pair.

A couple so beautiful that even angels would applaud.

The longer Iris watched them, the angrier she got. The more she observed, the more she hated.

She was furious that such an incredible man wasn't Yvette's.

And she hated Winifred for being born so effortlessly beautiful. She hoarded all the good genes—perfect luminous skin, exquisite features—and didn't even need cosmetic enhancements.

Meanwhile, Iris had paid for double eyelid surgery, a nose job, a chin implant... the amount of money and suffering she had endured to look the way she did was a tragic saga of its own.

Just then, Holden's smooth voice broke into her thoughts.

"Look at their faces. Their expressions have changed."

Their expressions? What did that mean?

Iris looked again, reframing her perspective just as Holden suggested.

He murmured his analysis in her ear.

"Leland's brow is tight. He's suppressing a lot of heavy emotion in his eyes. He's hit a wall and is holding back. Now look at Winifred. Her face is composed, but her eyes are empty. She's taken a fresh hit. She's deliberately severed an emotional tie and is pretending she's moved on, but inside, she's terrified. She's afraid of getting hurt, so she's wrapped herself in thick armor to survive."

"You're amazing!"

Guided by his insight, the dark clouds in Iris's mind instantly cleared.

She smiled brilliantly, giving him a thumbs-up and showering him with praise.

"You're so brilliant. You could be a psychologist."

Holden chuckled. "I was the top scorer in my city's college entrance exams. I'm a certified genius."

She fired back instantly, "You? You think you can take us on?"

"You'll find out soon enough," Winifred said. "Since you have no one left to do your dirty work, I suggest you start making your funeral arrangements."

"You..." Iris turned her head, her voice instantly dropping into a whining, sickeningly sweet register. "Holden~"

She played the victim flawlessly.

Look, she was being bullied again.

All because of Winifred.

Holden laughed—a brazen, mocking laugh.

"Winifred, yesterday you were sobbing over your grandfather's grave, looking like you were about to shatter into a million pieces. Today, you're acting tough again?"

Winifred stared him down. "If you can switch between being pathetic and acting tough at will, I can do it even better."

"Hahaha! Are you flirting with me?"
