A Wedding Night Gone Terribly Wrong novel Chapter 267

The kids spent the entire evening obsessed with 'Star.'

While playing with bubbles in the bath, they talked about how pretty Star was.

While putting on their pajamas, they talked about how much they loved Star's little yellow coat.

When they finally climbed into bed, they stared out the window, wondering if Star was asleep yet...

Winifred listened to all of this with mounting horror.

Once she finished their bedtime story and turned off the lights, she immediately went to find Celeste. She had to get to the bottom of this.

Up in the fourth-floor sunroom, the beaded curtains were pulled back, leaving the glass walls completely exposed to the glittering city skyline.

Celeste and Fletcher were sitting across from each other in matching pumpkin-shaped beanbag chairs. A low table sat between them, holding a steaming pot of fruit tea, a massive platter of braised snacks, and a plate of fresh fruit.

They were playing cards. The loser had to stick a strip of white paper to their forehead. Celeste's face was practically buried under them.

Winifred knocked gently on the glass door.

"Winifred! Come on, join us!" Celeste scrambled up, trying to drag her over.

"No thanks. I actually need to talk to you," Winifred said, pulling a few strips of paper off Celeste's face so she could see her eyes.
