Winifred walked inside, gently holding Celeste's hand.
"My grandchildren! They are just too cute!" The usually poised Shannon Upton completely lost her composure the moment she laid eyes on the twins.
Leland handed Annie over to her. "You can borrow her for a minute."
"Hi, Grandma!" Annie chirped, pressing a sweet, milky kiss to Shannon's cheek as she settled into her arms.
"Oh my... I... I'm going to cry," Shannon gasped, her knees weak with emotion.
Her husband, Warren Lockwood, quickly stepped up behind her to steady her. Annie looked up at him with wide, innocent eyes. "Hi, Grandpa!"
"Well... hello there," Warren replied, his usually stoic expression melting instantly.
He turned his head and gave a swift wave. An assistant immediately stepped forward, carrying a silver tray.
Warren pulled back the velvet cloth, presenting his gifts first.
"This is a little welcome gift from Grandpa," he said, handing over a massive, incredibly thick envelope containing a generous trust fund.
"Thank you, Grandpa!" Annie said, her tiny hands struggling to hold it until Shannon helped her.
"You're very welcome, sweetheart."
Warren then handed a matching envelope to Seth.
Seth puffed out his little chest proudly. "Hello, Grandpa! Thank you!"
"Good boy," Warren chuckled, affectionately ruffling Seth's hair.
He then handed equally generous envelopes to Winifred and Celeste.
The rest of the Lockwood family quickly followed suit. Within minutes, Winifred was overwhelmed by the sheer volume of presents. A maid brought over a luxury stroller just so they could stack the gifts inside. In five minutes, the stroller was overflowing.
And there was still more.
Leland's uncle, Alistair Lockwood, gifted them a limited-edition, world-class luxury RV worth over a hundred and twenty million. He handed over the keys in an elegant dark gold box.
"This will make it easier for you to take the kids on holiday trips," Alistair said, a rare softness appearing in his usually sharp eyes.
Sylvia Lockwood chimed in with her own observation. "You know, looking closely, Seth looks exactly like Alistair did when he was a boy."
Augustus Lockwood, who had been sitting quietly, nodded in agreement. "He really does. We have the photos to prove it."
The room erupted in warm laughter.
Taking the opportunity, Augustus presented his gifts.
