A Wedding Night Gone Terribly Wrong novel Chapter 348

Huxley grew more aggressive by the second.

His tense voice practically vibrated through the screen.

Winifred tapped the speakerphone button and set the phone on her desk, moving away from it.

The audio amplified, echoing off the walls of the lab.

[As of tonight, Quinn has been gone for eighteen days. This little tantrum needs to end!]

[Remind her to think very carefully about whether my patience can survive eighteen days of this nonsense.]

[Tonight is my absolute deadline! If she doesn't come home tonight, she can stay gone forever.]

[Mhm,] Winifred replied coolly.

[Are you brushing me off, Winifred?!] Huxley snapped.

[No.]

[Tell Quinn she has one last chance tonight!] Huxley roared. [If she behaves, comes home, and apologizes, I'll pretend this never happened. We'll go back to normal.]

[Okay.]

[If I don't see her tonight, we are done. Permanently.]

*Smash—*

A heavy thud echoed through the speaker before the call abruptly disconnected.

He had clearly thrown his phone at the wall.

Winifred smirked.

"You find other people's toxic drama amusing, but when your own husband—the man you used to love to death—is standing right in front of you with a bleeding head, you treat me like I'm already a corpse. Amazing." Holden lightly touched the lump on his head.

He was brewing.

He needed to push her more...

*Ring—*

The phone went off again. Winifred answered instantly.

This time, her entire demeanor shifted. A bright, sweet smile spread across her face, and her tone became sickeningly soft.

[Hey, Quentin~]

Quentin Adams’s voice was even sweeter, dripping with affection.

[Hey, Winifred. I'll be there in fifteen minutes. Get ready, I'm coming to pick you up.]

[Okay, Quentin~]

[Mhm... Winifred?]

[Yeah?]

[Did you... think about me today?]

"Even if you threw me away and ran into another man's arms, I need an answer."

"Winifred, you have to... make me let you go."

Making a broken, traumatized man 'let go' was a massive undertaking.

But he didn't demand she do it tonight.

He turned and left.

Dragging his agonizingly bruised groin, his legs shaking violently with every step, he limped out of Research Lab 1.

He held his stomach to suppress the nausea from his alcohol poisoning, a pathetic, destroyed man.

Winifred waited a full three minutes, ensuring he had taken the elevator down, before she looked toward the door.

He was using a pity play to force a connection.

This was just another one of his sick plots to destroy her.

She had been through this enough times; her lessons were written in blood and tears.

From the first day he and Iris went crazy together, he never intended to let her live in peace.

The fact that Holden found Research Lab 1 proved exactly how evil his intentions were.

This lab was set up by Quentin specifically for her to develop formulas.

For 'security,' Quentin had intentionally placed her workspace entirely outside the main Iris-Adams Biopharma facility.
