A Wedding Night Gone Terribly Wrong novel Chapter 353

Quentin immediately caught the sound. "Are you sick, Mr. Lockwood?"

"It's nothing," Holden replied dismissively. "You aren't off work yet?"

Quentin quickly shifted to business, mentioning the delivery.

"Iris has some things going on," Holden explained. "She won't be home for the next couple of days. Just drop the stuff off and let the nanny sign for it."

"Miss Morgan... is she alright?"

Iris hadn't been working for a long time and didn't have much on her plate. Just a few days ago, she had been aggressively rushing him for the beauty creams.

Holden didn't mention that Iris had spent a week in a holding cell and received a hefty fine for getting into a physical altercation with a minor.

He simply said, "She's fine."

Quentin knew better than to pry into other people's business. He hung up and focused on his route. First, he dropped Larissa and Demi off at their house, waiting until they went inside before turning the car around to head toward Holden and Iris's mansion for the delivery.

When Demi walked into the house, her eyes immediately darted to the dining table.

Tonight, it was frozen microwave dinners.

A stack of bland, overly processed trays sat in the middle of the table, flanked by a bowl of limp salad with a bottle of cheap dressing.

Take what you want.

Shelly wasn't at the table. Obviously, she also craved a proper six-course meal made by a professional housekeeper and couldn't stomach the cheap processed food.

Demi sat down, looking absolutely miserable. "Grandma, are we eating this poorly again tonight?"

Eleanor was actually in a decent mood and didn't lose her temper. "Your uncle invested in Iris-Adams Biopharma and took all the retirement savings your grandpa and I hoarded for decades. Now his clinic has to pinch every penny it makes just to prepare for next month's bank loan repayment. We have to save on living expenses wherever we can."

It was exactly what Quentin had told them in the car. The family was going through a financial crisis and had to tighten their belts.

Fine.

Making a fuss would just make her look like a spoiled brat, and being a brat would just get her kicked out.
