He had Jordyn resting in the crook of his arm, and she was clinging tightly to his neck.
Jordyn looked incredibly smug, clearly reveling in the affection.
The man clearly adored the little girl.
Her slightly chubby, tanned appearance was a stark contrast to the dazzlingly handsome man holding her.
Beside him stood the female enemy—slender, with a long, graceful neck, a tiny waist, and legs like bamboo shoots.
Her face was undeniably stunning, a heavily curated kind of beauty, masking layers of cosmetics.
She looked like a rose with thorns; gorgeous, but dangerous to touch.
Right now, her gaze seemed fixed on Jayce.
She offered a polite smile, her red lips curving into a glamorous arc.
The tall man studied Jayce for a long moment before finally asking him, "Are you Seth's father?"
"..."
When there was no response, Seth craned his neck to see what was wrong with Jayce, wondering why his backup was failing him at the worst possible moment.
It was unbelievable.
Jayce was completely frozen.
He was staring unblinkingly at the female enemy, his face flushed red, looking exactly like a traitor ready to sell out his team.
Holden's tone hardened. "Are you deaf?"
"..."
Still nothing.
Ms. Miller took a step forward, trying to intervene.
Seth quickly threw his little arm out to stop her. Taking a few steps forward on his short legs, he stood on his tiptoes and slapped Jayce's side.
"Gah! What is it?!" Jayce yelped, jumping backward in shock.
Seth kept his little face entirely stoic. "Jayce Zane, I am officially notifying you that you are fired."
The entire room went dead silent.
No one had expected such an explosive reaction from a toddler.
Seth realized he was on his own. He balled his tiny hands into fists and faced the tall man head-on.
"May I ask your name? Are you Jordyn's father?"
"Heh. Interesting." A half-smile crept onto Holden's handsome face. "I am Holden Lockwood. Jordyn's uncle."
Seth shouted the name, "Holden Lockwood!!"
He watched the man's eyes widen, clearly shocked that a child had the nerve to challenge him so boldly.
Recovering quickly, Holden nodded. "That's me."
Turning his stoic little face back to Holden, he demanded, "The demands you made to my grandmother on the phone—you can state them to my face now, and we will resolve them one by one."
Holden stood there, Jordyn resting on his arm.
He was a grown man holding a child, staring down at another child standing on the floor.
This boy was small—average height, not particularly muscular, with a completely ordinary build for a toddler.
But he was the kind of kid you couldn't forget once you looked at him.
He sported a buzzcut that seemed too mature for his age, and his icy, deadpan expression made him look incredibly arrogant, as if he owned the world. Among kids his age, he was entirely in a league of his own.
His face still had baby fat, giving him a soft, milky look, but if you looked closely at his features, you could see the sharp, masculine lines forming.
You could easily imagine him growing up to be a powerful, commanding man.
If Holden had to describe him in one sentence, the boy looked like royalty in exile. His plain clothes couldn't hide his natural presence.
Arguing with a toddler made Holden feel like a bully.
But he was a proud man, and he wasn't about to be outsmarted by a kid.
He raised an eyebrow. "Your name is Seth, right?"
"That's right."
"Seth! I want you to apologize to Jordyn right now."
