A Wedding Night Gone Terribly Wrong novel Chapter 79

Seth's small figure was blocked by the tall girls. Winifred couldn't see him anymore. She hurriedly picked up Annelise, ready to go look for him.

She hadn't taken more than a few steps before she saw Seth squeezing out from between the people, running like a little tornado.

Winifred quickly half-squatted and caught him.

Seth clung to her shoulder, panting and trembling.

"Seth, did something happen?" Winifred asked softly.

Seth didn't speak. He just held her tightly, shrinking his little body into her embrace.

She put Annelise down, freed up a hand to pick Seth up, and carried him back to their seats.

After he calmed down, Seth said solemnly, "Mommy, we're moving."

Winifred was surprised.

A two-year-old child stressing over moving meant he had encountered something serious. Given his level of endurance, whatever happened must have been severe enough that he couldn't handle it.

"Can you tell Mommy why you feel this way?"

Seth gritted his teeth. "We're leaving Quentin's family. Starting tonight, we'll live on our own."

Moving was already in Winifred's plans. The new house had been renovated for six months, airing out with the windows open. Large furniture like beds, wardrobes, TV stands, and kitchen cabinets were already installed. The new home was ready for move-in.

She immediately supported Seth's idea. "Okay. Mommy will take you guys to our new place."

Annelise leaned against her leg, looking very nervous.

"Mommy, are we moving to the streets?"

"Why would you say that?"

"Because... because I heard Grandma Eleanor say she was going to kick us out. Grandpa Albert asked, 'The kids are so small, where will they live if you kick them out?' Grandma said, 'Let them live on the streets, it's none of my business.'"

In the four corners of the yard, fruit trees stood lush and green. The tiny oranges were still green, but a few of the apples were red, albeit tiny—like toy fruits planted just for the kids.

Under the trees was a small fenced area—a home for chickens, ducks, and rabbits.

"What do you think?" Winifred smiled warmly.

Annelise was curious. "Mommy, where is this?"

"Our new home."

"Renting this must be very expensive," Seth said, his little brow furrowing.

Larissa and Demi had just said Mom was fired by Quentin. And that Mom couldn't find a job right now. Because Jordyn's uncle, Holden, had powerful connections and was bullying Mom, denying her job opportunities. With no income, Mom still had to raise two babies.

Winifred smiled and patted Seth's little head. "Even when you guys were still in Mommy's tummy, Mommy dreamed of owning a house to give you a stable home."
