A Wedding Night Gone Terribly Wrong novel Chapter 93

"Holy shit!" Preston slapped his thigh, completely dumbfounded.

The sole heir to the wealthiest family in the country had just blown past a group of high-society elites and blatantly ignored the Reality Show Goddess, all to approach Winifred.

"Am I hallucinating?" Preston muttered.

Wasn't Winifred supposed to be Holden's desperate stalker? She was allegedly so obsessed with Holden that she tracked his every move, ambushing him at this very building.

How on earth was she involved with Leland Lockwood?

Kian sneered. "She's putting on an act. It’s a trap to make Holden jealous."

Classic manipulative behavior. It was so typical of her.

Preston rubbed his chin. "Still, you have to admit, managing to convince Leland Lockwood to play along? That takes some serious skill."

"Acting is second nature to a schemer like her," Kian muttered. He subtly glanced at Iris and his heart sank.

This wasn't good.

Iris's eyes were red, her lips pressed tightly together. She looked like she was on the verge of tears. She had been hurt yet again. Kian immediately checked Holden's expression—he looked furious, clearly upset that Iris was suffering.

Winifred! She was the root of all of Iris's pain.

He had to do something. For Iris's happiness, he had to intervene. During his meeting with Leland, he would expose Winifred's true, ugly nature. That would definitely cheer Iris up.

Winifred had no idea Kian was plotting against her. She simply accepted the rose from Leland.

Leland couldn't take his eyes off her. He stared at her for a long, heavy moment.

"Come with me," he said, holding out his hand.

Winifred blinked. Right now? Hold his hand in front of everyone?

Her mind blanked. But then she caught the stares of the four people watching her. They were waiting for her to make a fool of herself, waiting for her to be humiliated so they could feel superior.

Holding his hand wasn't a bad idea at all. If it meant using Leland to slap them in the face, she’d gladly do it.

Winifred found it funny. No one ever asked for her photo like this; it was a novel experience. "If Mr. Lockwood allows it."

"I allow it. But only if I'm in the picture too."

The receptionist eagerly rushed out from behind the desk. They split into two groups, leaving the center open for Leland and Winifred, who was still holding the rose.

The photo was breathtaking.

Leland winked. "Good things are meant to be shared, you know."

"Loud and clear, Mr. Lockwood!" the receptionist beamed.

Within seconds, the photo was blasted into the company's internal group chat. It spread like wildfire. Soon, even the cleaning staff knew.

Two cleaning ladies stepped off the elevator, their eyes immediately darting toward the front desk. "Is that the boss's new girlfriend? The one he's holding hands with?"

"It has to be! I've worked here for twenty years and I've never seen Mr. Lockwood parade a woman through the lobby like this."
