Malloy didn’t rush to hand in his resignation. Instead, he called in sick for three days. He was sure that once Lawrence was taken care of and stuck in a hospital bed for three months, Nestor would get control of The Blair Group again. After that, all he had to do was get Alice to put in a good word for him, and everything would go back to normal.
He wired a hundred thousand dollars to Otto, telling him to move fast. He even sent over a photo of Lawrence and his home address.
Lawrence was working late, like always. The Blair Group had so many issues, and he needed time to sort them out.
By eight thirty, Lawrence finally finished up. He grabbed his phone for a quick time check and sent Catherine a message.
What are you doing? Are you tired from studying?
Catherine was in the middle of writing a proposal. When she saw his message, she couldn’t help but smile.
Not tired. What about you? Done for the day?
Just about to head home.
Catherine really worried about him. Nestor had dumped the entire company reform on Lawrence, and she didn’t know if he could handle it. Nestor’s people were all old pros, lazy and cunning. She hoped they wouldn’t make things harder for him.
Get some rest when you get home. I’ll be finished here in two weeks, she texted back.
Yeah, I was thinking about coming to Harrisburg to see you, but I guess I can’t get away right now.
Then just focus on helping my dad. Don’t worry about me, Catherine replied. If Lawrence could help Nestor turn things around, she was sure Nestor would finally accept him.
Catherine needed to concentrate too. She had to win this project and earn enough to pay Nexus Dynamics another hundred million, just to buy back her grandma’s heirloom.
Lawrence got in his car. I’m about to drive. I’ll talk to you when I get home.
Okay, Catherine replied, sending a cute sticker.
Suddenly, car doors slammed open. Five big guys got out, each gripping an iron bar, faces hard and threatening.
The guy in front had a nasty scar on his cheek. That was Otto, the hired muscle Malloy had paid for.
Well, look at you, Otto sneered, swinging his iron bar. You actually led us out here. Not bad. Someone hired us to teach you a lesson. Make it easy and we’ll just break a leg. You’ll still be breathing.
And if I don’t make it easy? Lawrence asked, his voice calm and cold.
If you don’t, you won’t make it to tomorrow, one of Otto’s guys sneered.
Lawrence looked over the five of them and raised an eyebrow. This is it? Just you guys?
The way he said it was so dismissive, it made Otto’s crew bristle. One of them pointed at him. What’s with the attitude? You’ll be begging in a minute.

Im stiĺl waiting for the update, thank you....
I’m glad I hung in there for all 368 chapters. This was a really good story!...
They are on a base. Alice and Shirley need to be approved and sponsored to enter. What are they worried for? Can random people just come on base?...
I’m glad the tech team has a conscience. I was also thinking the same thing about the team being the one to build it because Shirley doesn’t code anything....
This hearing is being drug out like one in real life....
How does Shirley think she can dismiss and call witnesses at will in the courtroom, telling Amy that she could leave now?...
The audacity. She just insulted his deceased wife and their child, but she wants justice? 🤣🤣...
This is the most delusional couple. Making up slights against themselves from people who couldn’t care less. Twisting everything into their own narrative of what they think and feel....
Finally. It’s all out there....
I hope he remembers to stop access to anything Alice currently has the rights to take....
