Nexus Dynamics was never the kind of company you could easily work with.
On top of that, Nexus Dynamics and The James Group had been at each other’s throats for ages. Nestor’s company was just a small pawn in the game, something Nexus Dynamics used to trip up The James Group. If he stopped being useful, they’d toss him aside without a second thought.
After Shirley hung up on Alice, a determined spark lit up in her eyes. She was going to win the Project Apex Initiative this time. No matter what.
If she could prove her value to Waldo, and Catherine kept treating him with that same cold indifference, it was only a matter of time before she’d end up by Waldo’s side. And when that happened, what would she have to worry about?
Nestor didn’t even realize he was just a pawn. By the time The Blair Group was stuck between these two corporate giants, fighting to survive, Nestor would have to crawl back to Waldo sooner or later.
Let Nestor play his little role. Lawrence was just a background character in all of this, not a threat at all.
Across the field, Shirley spotted Catherine chatting with a man who looked to be in his fifties. Shirley scoffed under her breath. Catherine was still totally clueless about what was really going on.
Shirley couldn’t help thinking that marrying a loser had made Catherine lower her standards. She was even making small talk with a security guard.

Catherine, on the other hand, actually felt happy to see the kind security guard again on the field. She was still grateful for the fruit he’d brought her last time.
“The fruit from that little supermarket isn’t fresh,” Patrick told her, almost apologetic. “The ones from outside are much better.” He felt a little sorry for Catherine, always so busy with classes and studying, barely having any time to go out and enjoy herself.
Catherine hadn’t even thought about going out lately. All her time was tied up with her project and preparing for the big presentation coming up at the end of the month. That just made her appreciate the fruit even more.
“Thank you so much,” she said sincerely. “I’ve been swamped getting ready for my end-of-month presentation.”
