When Catherine heard him, her eyes lit up and curved into little crescents. She nodded hard. “Yeah.”
Lawrence looked down at the soft, sweet girl in his arms and couldn’t help but lean in for a quick kiss on her lips.
Her cheeks turned pink, but she didn’t seem satisfied. She got up on her tiptoes and pressed a kiss to his cheek. “Let’s go to my room. Your flight isn’t until ten, so you still have some time.”
He let out a low laugh. “Alright.”
Catherine grabbed his hand and pulled him along to the dorm.
As soon as they walked into her room, Catherine felt her face get hot. She’d rushed out that morning, so now there were clothes tossed over the bed and the back of the chair, papers from last night’s research still scattered across the desk, and the blanket was a mess.
“Um… I was in a hurry this morning. Didn’t have time to clean up,” she mumbled, cheeks burning, as she darted over to tidy her desk.
Lawrence watched her, a smile flickering in his eyes. She looked so cute and flustered. He knew she’d grown up with everything taken care of for her, not really used to tidying up. He didn’t mind at all.
“It’s fine. I’ll help,” he said gently, reaching for the clothes on the bed.
Catherine’s face was on fire. Just as she turned around, she saw Lawrence holding a pale pink lace bra in his hand.
Her cheeks went scarlet. She wanted to dive over and snatch it away, but Lawrence simply walked to her closet and hung it up for her, totally calm.
Watching his big, capable hands move so carefully as he fixed up her messy bed, Catherine felt this strange rush of warmth and happiness.
She stopped what she was doing. Suddenly, she threw her arms around his waist from behind and pressed her face against his back, her voice muffled. “You don’t have to tidy up. I’ll do it in a minute.”
Lawrence took her hands and turned to face her, laughing quietly. “Are you really going to be this polite with me?”
