“Lawrence, let me walk you out,” Shirley said, her eyes bright with a playful smile.
“No need,” Lawrence replied, his tone cool and distant.
Shirley paused, caught off guard for a second. She watched him walk away, his cold indifference stinging more than she’d care to admit. Biting her lip, she felt that familiar spark of competition flare up inside her.
Since the day she’d joined the Blair family, she had made it her mission to take anything Catherine cherished. It didn’t matter if she actually wanted it. She just had to have it, or else ruin it. Toys, clothes, Nestor’s affection, and now Waldo. She hadn’t managed to win Waldo’s heart, but at least she’d broken up their engagement. That was enough to keep Catherine from marrying him.
Now, seeing Lawrence, Shirley felt that same possessive urge rise up again. If she could get Lawrence to fall for her, it would be so satisfying. It wasn’t really about love at all. It was about proving she could always outshine Catherine.
Taking over Lawrence’s heart would be the perfect revenge.
“Lawrence, wait,” she called, hurrying down the stairs after him.
Lawrence had just stepped into the living room. He turned to her, his face unreadable. “Did you need something?”
Shirley flashed her most charming smile. “Thank you for tonight. Do you want to stay for some tea before you go?”
Lawrence’s eyes turned cold, as if he could see straight through her. “No. That won’t be necessary.”
He didn’t wait for a response, just strode out of the house and disappeared into the garden.
Shirley stood rooted to the spot, barely believing how cold he’d been. But honestly, the more challenging the target, the sweeter the victory. If something belonged to Catherine, she wanted to take it. And if she couldn’t, she’d make sure to ruin it anyway.
...
The sky was still dark when a black SUV pulled up to the front gate.
“Lawrence went for a run,” Susan told her.
Catherine’s cheeks heated up. She’d teased him the night before and then left him hanging. Now she felt just a little guilty.
She was sipping the hot milk Susan handed her when she spotted Lawrence coming in from outside. He was wearing a dark gray tracksuit, his hair slightly damp from sweat. He looked energized and strong, the fabric of his clothes stretching over his lean muscles.
“You’re back,” Catherine greeted, a little shy.
Lawrence met her gaze, his eyes deep and steady. “You’re awake?”
She nodded quickly, glancing away. “Yeah. Go take a shower. Susan’s almost done with breakfast.”
Lawrence gave her a small, easy smile and headed upstairs.

They are on a base. Alice and Shirley need to be approved and sponsored to enter. What are they worried for? Can random people just come on base?...
I’m glad the tech team has a conscience. I was also thinking the same thing about the team being the one to build it because Shirley doesn’t code anything....
This hearing is being drug out like one in real life....
How does Shirley think she can dismiss and call witnesses at will in the courtroom, telling Amy that she could leave now?...
The audacity. She just insulted his deceased wife and their child, but she wants justice? 🤣🤣...
This is the most delusional couple. Making up slights against themselves from people who couldn’t care less. Twisting everything into their own narrative of what they think and feel....
Finally. It’s all out there....
I hope he remembers to stop access to anything Alice currently has the rights to take....
