He definitely hadn’t realized just how much Nexus Dynamics valued Catherine. Now they were going all out to back The Blair Group, leaving no doubt about their support.
Who was really making all this happen? Catherine was talented, sure, but Nexus Dynamics attracted the best tech minds from around the world. Compared to some of them, Catherine was maybe somewhere in the middle. So why was she suddenly getting all this attention?
If anyone deserved to be called a tech genius, it was Shirley. She had Resonance AI, a system so advanced even Nexus Dynamics wanted in. As for Catherine winning the Apex Initiative Project, that felt more like luck than anything else.
Waldo yanked at his tie, frustration twisting inside him. The sting of losing still wouldn’t go away.
Catherine, there’s no way I’m giving up that easily.
The Blair Estate
When Shirley walked in, she spotted Nestor already home. She’d expected him to be furious after hearing that Catherine had spent a billion on a bracelet. But instead, he was just sitting calmly on the sofa, sipping his tea like nothing could bother him.
“Dad, did you call Catherine? What did she say?” Shirley eased herself down next to him, watching his expression.
There was a hint of pride in Nestor’s eyes as he answered. “I called her. She said the bracelet was a reward from Nexus Dynamics. No matter how high the bid, they’ll pay for it.”
For a moment, Shirley just stared. Nexus Dynamics was paying for it? Was that even possible?
“Dad, she’s got to be lying,” Shirley said, grabbing his arm. “What kind of company gives out rewards like that? She’s making it up. She has to be.”
Nestor had wondered the same thing. What company would ever hand out rewards like this? Still, if the CEO himself had agreed, then maybe it really wasn’t so strange.
Nestor saw the disbelief still in Shirley’s face and added, “Didn’t Catherine just win a huge project for Nexus Dynamics? The CEO clearly appreciates her. This is her good luck.”
The more Catherine accomplished, the better it was for The Blair Group. Of course Nestor was pleased to see it.
Shirley clenched her jaw, bitterness simmering beneath the surface. That project was supposed to be hers. Now Catherine had not just won the project, but also the CEO’s favor. Did this mean the company’s resources would start going to her too?
“Dad, don’t take it so seriously. In the tech world, it’s all about real talent, not just luck. Catherine only got that project because she happened to get lucky this time,” Shirley snapped, then headed upstairs without looking back.
Nestor watched her go and let out a quiet sigh. A moment later, Lawrence came in, hauling Catherine’s suitcase behind him.

Im stiĺl waiting for the update, thank you....
I’m glad I hung in there for all 368 chapters. This was a really good story!...
They are on a base. Alice and Shirley need to be approved and sponsored to enter. What are they worried for? Can random people just come on base?...
I’m glad the tech team has a conscience. I was also thinking the same thing about the team being the one to build it because Shirley doesn’t code anything....
This hearing is being drug out like one in real life....
How does Shirley think she can dismiss and call witnesses at will in the courtroom, telling Amy that she could leave now?...
The audacity. She just insulted his deceased wife and their child, but she wants justice? 🤣🤣...
This is the most delusional couple. Making up slights against themselves from people who couldn’t care less. Twisting everything into their own narrative of what they think and feel....
Finally. It’s all out there....
I hope he remembers to stop access to anything Alice currently has the rights to take....
