Right now, her computer wasn’t just frozen or showing a blue screen. The entire display had been swallowed by a deep, endless darkness. The power light was still glowing, but the keyboard and mouse were useless. No matter what she pressed or clicked, nothing happened.
“What the hell?” Shirley muttered, her face clouding over. She could hear the faint whir of the fan. It sounded like her computer was being sucked into a black hole.
Then, out of nowhere, a single line of text appeared in the middle of the black screen.
Trying to hack me? You’re not even close.
Shirley stared at the words, her blood boiling.
Catherine. Damn her.
Not only had she crushed Shirley’s hacking attempt in seconds, she had the nerve to leave such a smug message.
Gritting her teeth, Shirley tried to force a restart. It was useless. The taunting words stayed right there, as if laughing at her failure.
Hold on.
That kind of perfect, ruthless counterattack… It reminded her of the legendary Zero System. Only the top people at Nexus Dynamics had access to that.
Could Catherine really use the Zero System?
Shirley stormed out of her room and marched straight to Catherine’s door. She knocked, hard. “Open up, Catherine.”
The door swung open. Catherine stood there, cool and collected, one eyebrow raised. “What’s up?”
There was something in Catherine’s tone that made Shirley’s heart skip a beat. If Catherine really hadn’t used the Zero System… That was even more terrifying. A chill prickled down her spine.
Where did Catherine get this kind of confidence? This control?
The woman standing in front of her didn’t feel like the Catherine she used to know. There was something powerful and sharp about her now.
But Shirley would never admit defeat. She clenched her jaw. “Don’t flatter yourself, Catherine. Your little tricks wouldn’t even make a splash in the real tech world.”
With that, Shirley spun around and marched back to her room. She glared at her screen, still black, that mocking line of text floating in the middle. The anger simmered inside her. She snatched up a glass of water and dumped it over her computer. Finally, the machine fizzled out and died for good.
Still, the frustration stuck in her throat, heavy and bitter. What kind of power did Catherine really have?

Im stiĺl waiting for the update, thank you....

They are on a base. Alice and Shirley need to be approved and sponsored to enter. What are they worried for? Can random people just come on base?...
I’m glad the tech team has a conscience. I was also thinking the same thing about the team being the one to build it because Shirley doesn’t code anything....
This hearing is being drug out like one in real life....
How does Shirley think she can dismiss and call witnesses at will in the courtroom, telling Amy that she could leave now?...
The audacity. She just insulted his deceased wife and their child, but she wants justice? 🤣🤣...
This is the most delusional couple. Making up slights against themselves from people who couldn’t care less. Twisting everything into their own narrative of what they think and feel....
Finally. It’s all out there....
I hope he remembers to stop access to anything Alice currently has the rights to take....
