Catherine’s heart skipped a beat. She bit her lip, her fingers nervously twisting together. Was he upset? Did he think she was hopeless?
Lawrence was about to grab a broom when he noticed her standing there, head down, worry written all over her face. He reached out and gave her shoulder a gentle pat, his voice quiet but comforting.
“It’s okay. They say breaking something brings good luck.”
Catherine looked up, startled. She met his eyes, searching for any sign of annoyance or disappointment, but all she saw was patience and warmth.
“Lawrence, I’ve never done housework before,” she admitted softly, dropping her gaze. “Back at The Blair Family, there were always maids. And when I was with Waldo, he wouldn’t even let me try.”
She paused, then quickly looked up again, her words tumbling out in a rush. “But I want to learn. I really do. Just give me a little time, and I’ll figure it out, I promise.”
She was desperate to reassure him, as if she was terrified he’d think less of her, or regret marrying her.
Lawrence felt a pang in his chest. What was she so afraid of? Did she really think he’d walk away?
“You don’t have to push yourself,” he told her, keeping his tone as gentle as he could. He squeezed her shoulder lightly. “I can handle the chores.”
Catherine blinked, then shook her head with determination. “I want to help. I want to share the work with you. I don’t want you carrying everything alone.”
She married him to be partners, to face the ups and downs together. The last thing she wanted was to be a burden, or to live her whole life being looked after. She wanted to take care of him too, even if it meant starting with little things.
Lawrence looked at her, a little surprised, but he didn’t argue. He just nodded. “Alright. We’ll take it slow.”
In the end, Lawrence swept up the mess himself, and Catherine went upstairs, guilt gnawing at her as she replayed everything in her mind.
“Lenny, take it easy,” Catherine said, her voice calm and steady. “We’re not making any sudden moves.”
“Catherine, you’re just going to let them run around using your name? This is your baby.” Lenny sounded confused and angry.
“That’s exactly why I can’t be impulsive,” she replied. “I need to see what they’re actually showing. I want to know who’s really behind their version of ‘Resonance AI’.”
“Tell the team to pause our launch. Keep everything under wraps. We’ll watch and see what they do next.”
“Got it, Catherine. I understand,” Lenny said, his voice quieting.
Catherine hung up and let out a long breath. She’d been hoping to sell ‘Resonance AI’ soon, to help support her new life. Now it looked like she would have to wait a little longer.

I’m glad I hung in there for all 368 chapters. This was a really good story!...
They are on a base. Alice and Shirley need to be approved and sponsored to enter. What are they worried for? Can random people just come on base?...
I’m glad the tech team has a conscience. I was also thinking the same thing about the team being the one to build it because Shirley doesn’t code anything....
This hearing is being drug out like one in real life....
How does Shirley think she can dismiss and call witnesses at will in the courtroom, telling Amy that she could leave now?...
The audacity. She just insulted his deceased wife and their child, but she wants justice? 🤣🤣...
This is the most delusional couple. Making up slights against themselves from people who couldn’t care less. Twisting everything into their own narrative of what they think and feel....
Finally. It’s all out there....
I hope he remembers to stop access to anything Alice currently has the rights to take....
Didn’t Alice bring food? She left it. I would definitely have it tested....
