Lawrence reached out and gave Nicol’s shoulder a reassuring pat. “You’ve been out there all this time, taking on the risks and the spotlight. I know it hasn’t been easy.”
Nicol shot him a look, raising an eyebrow. “Lawrence, don’t be so formal with me. You know you don’t have to.”
“Are you sure about this intel?” Lawrence asked, his voice suddenly more serious.
The playful edge in Nicol’s face faded. “Absolutely. No doubt at all.”
He pulled out a folder and handed it over. “Our people spent half a year undercover to get this. We finally got the proof. The James Group secretly cut a deal with BluePeak Ventures in Novaria. They’re handing over domestic civilian tech data and opening up channels. In return, BluePeak is feeding them advanced tech and equipment. They went out of their way to dodge the international regulators too.”
Lawrence flipped through the documents, his eyes pausing on several photos of Grover, the chairman.
“Grover’s really lost his way. He’s so hungry for profit that he’s forgotten what matters.”
“He’s got his son running things here, made a big show of retiring, but he’s actually pulling strings for the company from abroad,” Nicol said, his voice low.
Nicol’s gaze sharpened. “Honestly, The James Group has completely betrayed the country.”
Lawrence stayed quiet, his fingers tapping softly on the folder. It was hard to tell what he was thinking.
“So, what’s the plan?” Nicol asked, taking a sip of tea.
“We only have one option.” Lawrence looked at him.
Nicol waited, watching him closely.
“We take over The James Group.” Lawrence’s eyes flashed with determination. “And if we can get concrete evidence of what they’ve been doing overseas, we bring Grover back to face justice.”
Nicol gave a crooked smile. “No worries. Our team is still watching them. We’ll get what we need.”
Lawrence’s gaze grew more intense. “For now, I need you to stay here and get everything ready for the takeover.”
Catherine’s voice softened. “I just want to do my part to make our life better.”
Nettie glanced over with a mix of genuine happiness and a little envy. “I know it’ll all work out for you.”
The two friends finished their heart-to-heart, and suddenly Nettie’s phone buzzed with a new message. She glanced at it and her eyes went wide. “It’s that Bugatti guy.”
Catherine leaned in right away.
The message read: Remember to file your insurance claim.
Nettie let out an exasperated laugh. “Does he think I’m a little kid? Like I need him to tell me that?”
Catherine gave her shoulder a reassuring squeeze. “Hey, you’ve got me. You’ll be fine.”
Nettie quickly typed back, her lips pressed together in a stubborn smile. “Thanks for the tip, Mr. Bugatti. I can handle it.”

Im stiĺl waiting for the update, thank you....
I’m glad I hung in there for all 368 chapters. This was a really good story!...
They are on a base. Alice and Shirley need to be approved and sponsored to enter. What are they worried for? Can random people just come on base?...
I’m glad the tech team has a conscience. I was also thinking the same thing about the team being the one to build it because Shirley doesn’t code anything....
This hearing is being drug out like one in real life....
How does Shirley think she can dismiss and call witnesses at will in the courtroom, telling Amy that she could leave now?...
The audacity. She just insulted his deceased wife and their child, but she wants justice? 🤣🤣...
This is the most delusional couple. Making up slights against themselves from people who couldn’t care less. Twisting everything into their own narrative of what they think and feel....
Finally. It’s all out there....
I hope he remembers to stop access to anything Alice currently has the rights to take....
