“Did he give your friend a hard time?” Lawrence asked, trying not to laugh.
“At first, she wanted my friend to pay for the damages, but once he found out what really happened, he just asked her to treat him to dinner and let it go. Oh, by the way, do you have plans Friday night?” Catherine remembered she needed him to help keep Nettie safe.
Lawrence thought for a moment, then shook his head. “I don’t think so.”
“Nettie’s taking the Bugatti owner out for dinner that night. Just to be safe, I booked us a table at the same restaurant. Will you come with me?” Catherine’s big eyes were practically begging.
“Of course,” Lawrence said, his smile growing warmer.
“I just get a weird vibe from this Bugatti guy. I have to make sure Nettie isn’t in any danger.” Catherine made a fist, imagining the guy as some spoiled, flirty rich kid.
Lawrence almost laughed out loud, but he held it in, not wanting to ruin Nicol’s carefully planned dinner.
“Yeah, I’ll go with you,” he promised, his voice low and steady.
They got back to The Blair Estate. Lawrence watched Catherine walk through the gates, then drove off toward the Blair Group’s apartment complex.
As soon as he stepped out of the elevator, someone was waiting for him. Bonnie, looking like she’d been there forever, hurried over with a helpless look. “Lawrence, you’re finally back.”
Lawrence studied her in the hallway light, his eyes turning serious. “Bonnie, do you need something?”
Bonnie was clutching a few more documents. She looked a little upset. “I’m so sorry, it’s my fault. I missed two more papers… Lawrence, could you sign them for me?” She gave him a flirty look. “If you help me out, I’ll do anything you ask.”
Any other guy would probably melt at Bonnie’s innocent, pleading face.
