Of course. In Shirley’s mind, what could Catherine actually do to her? If Catherine told their dad, Shirley would just get a scolding at most. At work, their paths barely crossed. What real consequences could Catherine force on her? It was all just talk.
Still, Shirley was seriously annoyed. She had spent fifteen bucks on Bonnie, hoping to get photos and videos of Lawrence cheating. Instead, all she did was accidentally give Lawrence a chance to prove his loyalty, right in front of Catherine.
Infuriating.
Catherine, on the other hand, had no plans to tell their father. She was waiting until she gathered all the evidence about Resonance AI. Once she had everything she needed, Shirley would be ruined, and The James Group would go down with her. Catherine wouldn’t even have to do anything. Waldo would take care of the rest.
After her shower, Catherine called Nettie for a video chat.
“So, how was Nicol’s door-to-door service? Pretty thoughtful, right?” Catherine grinned.
“Oh, please. I would’ve been better off taking a cab. Do you even know what that ride was like for me?”
“What happened? Weren’t you the one who said, if Lawrence had any good single friends, I had to introduce you? Well, Nicol is one of his best friends.”
“Don’t set me up like that. I know my own limits, okay?”
Catherine burst out laughing. “Relax. I checked with Lawrence. Nicol’s single, no girlfriend. If you’re into him, you could give it a try.”
But Nettie shook her head, totally serious. “No way. I don’t go for guys who make me feel intimidated. Sure, he’s handsome, obviously loaded, but I want someone who’s actually on my level.”
