After the Fall A Leap into a Stranger's Arms novel Chapter 246

Nettie threw her hand over her eyes. “Sorry, sorry. I swear, I wasn’t trying to look at you.”

She grabbed her suitcase and spun around, making a beeline for the door at the end of the hall.

Behind her, Nicol smirked, glancing down at his own body. He couldn’t help thinking that maybe Nettie hadn’t been too disappointed with what she saw.

Catherine heard the frantic knocking and rushed to open the door. The second she saw Nettie, cheeks burning red and ears practically glowing, she knew her friend had just paid an accidental visit to Nicol’s room.

“What happened, Nettie? Why is your face so red?” Catherine asked, acting all innocent.

Nettie wasn’t buying it for a second. She’d already pieced it together. Catherine had totally set her up, inviting her over and pretending to mess up the room number.

“Come on, Catherine. Tell me the truth. You did this on purpose, didn’t you? You knew Nicol was staying across the hall and still sent me over there…” Nettie raised her fist, pretending like she was going to hit her.

Catherine widened her eyes, trying to look sweet. “Did I? Maybe I mixed up the numbers. I just got here myself, didn’t really check.”

But that sly little smile on Catherine’s face ruined her act. Nettie started to laugh through her frustration. “Keep pretending. You have no idea. I almost saw everything.”

Catherine instantly latched onto her arm, her curiosity obvious. “Come on. Spill. What did you see?”

Nettie’s face was still bright red. She covered it with both hands. “When I knocked, he’d just gotten out of the shower. He was only wearing a towel.”

Catherine’s eyes went wide. “Nettie, you hit the jackpot. First thing you do when you get here and you get to see Nicol practically naked. That’s some luck.”

“Say one more word and see what happens,” Nettie shot back, giving her a look. “How are you not embarrassed?”

Catherine burst out laughing. “Okay, okay, I’m sorry. It’s totally my fault.”

But Nettie wasn’t really mad. The truth was, ever since that dinner, Nicol had messaged her a few times, asking about her car and even wishing her goodnight. Still, Nettie couldn’t get past the huge gap between their worlds. She just didn’t dare to get her hopes up.
