Catherine had to be careful. If Shirley caught wind that she was investigating Resonance AI, everything would fall apart. If Waldo and Shirley ever discovered that she was the real creator, they’d pull every product off the shelves before she even had a chance to win in court. Even a victory in the lawsuit would barely scratch them.
Magee had dropped a bombshell earlier—Nexus Dynamics was looking to buy out The James Group. Catherine had been floored by the news, but the lawsuit she was fighting over Resonance AI would actually become the ace up Nexus Dynamics’ sleeve in that takeover. The whole case had to move forward smoothly, right up until the day of the trial.
If Amy stepped in and took her place as the face behind Resonance AI, maybe they could trick Waldo into making a move. If he tried to buy Amy out, that would be solid evidence against The James Group, another way to bring them down.
After wrapping up her chat with Amy, Catherine finally let herself breathe. The news about the acquisition was still sinking in. Nexus Dynamics had made it clear—the James Group had crossed a line, threatening national security. As a major tech company, Nexus Dynamics had a duty to protect the country’s information.
And really, who else had the guts to go up against The James Group? With Resonance AI’s success, The James Group’s market value had tripled. Only Nexus Dynamics was big enough to take them on.
Catherine didn’t know much about business mergers, but she understood the stakes. If The James Group ever used Resonance AI’s technology to do something dangerous, she had to support Nexus Dynamics all the way. She never imagined her own work would end up being so important in all this.
Her focus sharpened. She was in this fight now, and she wasn’t backing down.
Her phone chimed just then. She checked the message and couldn’t help the small smile that crept onto her face. It was from Lawrence.
What kind of gift do you want?
Nestor came back from a meeting with good news, but his chest felt tight. The pressure had been getting worse lately, and his medication didn’t seem to help anymore. He let out a long sigh. Years of hard work had taken a toll on him, but at least now he had Lawrence to count on. With someone that reliable, stepping back wouldn’t feel so risky.
He made up his mind. When Lawrence’s probation ended, he’d promote him to president and move himself into a quieter role as chairman. For now, though, he’d keep the news to himself. His wife had already been giving him grief about how much he depended on Lawrence.
Nestor wanted to help Lawrence rise even higher. The guy didn’t come from a fancy background, but his talent was obvious. Whenever Nestor hit a wall with a client, Lawrence would swoop in and save the day.
Next week, the team from Harrisburg would be coming to sign the partnership agreement. Lawrence was proving himself, delivering on every promise he made, one after another.

I’m glad I hung in there for all 368 chapters. This was a really good story!...
They are on a base. Alice and Shirley need to be approved and sponsored to enter. What are they worried for? Can random people just come on base?...
I’m glad the tech team has a conscience. I was also thinking the same thing about the team being the one to build it because Shirley doesn’t code anything....
This hearing is being drug out like one in real life....
How does Shirley think she can dismiss and call witnesses at will in the courtroom, telling Amy that she could leave now?...
The audacity. She just insulted his deceased wife and their child, but she wants justice? 🤣🤣...
This is the most delusional couple. Making up slights against themselves from people who couldn’t care less. Twisting everything into their own narrative of what they think and feel....
Finally. It’s all out there....
I hope he remembers to stop access to anything Alice currently has the rights to take....
Didn’t Alice bring food? She left it. I would definitely have it tested....
