The person asking couldn’t help but sigh to themselves. What a lucky girl. Even a heiress from a wealthy family would have to jump through hoops to marry into the Gates family.

Inside the coffee shop, Shirley tried to pick her senior’s brain for a solution to the Resonance AI problem.
“Shirley, it’s not that I don’t want to help. The company has strict policies, core technical data can never leak out. Besides, the stuff you’re asking about is way above my pay grade. Honestly, there’s nothing I can do.”
Shirley could tell right away that her senior wasn’t even as skilled as she was. This trip had been a waste of time.
After their chat, Shirley was heading home when her mom called, asking if she’d be back for dinner.
Shirley didn’t really want to go home, but she did have something to tell her mom.
“Mom, take a guess. What do you think Lawrence’s dad does for a living?” Shirley asked, grinning.
“What could he possibly do?” Alice replied, sounding pretty uninterested. “Isn’t he just some regular guy?”
Shirley laughed. “Mom, he’s not even regular. He’s a security guard.”
“What? Lawrence’s dad is a security guard?” Alice sounded totally shocked, like she couldn't believe it, with a hint of disdain in her voice.
“It’s true. He showed up at Nexus Dynamics looking for Catherine. I just happened to bump into them. Catherine admitted he’s Lawrence’s dad.”
“So how do you know he’s a security guard?”
“I know because I’ve seen him at the Science and Technology Institute in uniform, chatting with people. Last time, I saw him with my own eyes,” Shirley said, clearly pleased with herself.
“He was probably there to ask Catherine for some pocket money,” Alice scoffed.
