After the Fall A Leap into a Stranger's Arms novel Chapter 266

Shirley’s smile felt forced as she watched Catherine and Lawrence together. They just looked so right, standing side by side. Honestly, they were a picture-perfect couple.

Lawrence didn’t have even a hint of awkwardness about him. Instead, he had this quiet strength that made even Waldo seem insignificant.

“Adelina, hi,” Nestor said, turning his attention to her.

“Hello, everyone,” Adelina answered, her smile warm but a little reserved.

Alice stepped up. “Hi, I’m Catherine’s stepmother.”

“Nice to meet you,” Adelina replied politely.

After a round of greetings, everyone found their seats. Patrick and Nestor quickly got into a conversation, their small talk drifting from the weather to politics and everything in between.

Adelina started chatting with Alice. Meanwhile, Shirley couldn’t help but sneak glances at Lawrence. There was something about him she just couldn’t resist. Maybe it was his broad shoulders, his sharp jawline, or the way he carried himself. Even Waldo didn’t measure up.

Of course, life never gives out all the good cards. Lawrence had the looks and the charm, but he came from nothing. Now, though, he had Catherine. That meant money and status—finally escaping the shadow of his past.

And that was exactly what bothered Shirley the most. Catherine, with her hidden genius, ditching Waldo and now living her best life with Lawrence. All of it, just because Shirley gave her that little push on the cruise ship.

“I’m going to the bathroom,” Catherine said, giving Lawrence’s arm a quick tap.

“I’ll come too,” Shirley said, getting up to follow her.

They walked down the quiet hallway to the restroom. There was hardly anyone around. Catherine stepped out of a stall and started washing her hands, while Shirley fixed her makeup at the sink.
