Catherine finally saw Amy in a quiet hotel suite. The moment their eyes met, they hugged each other tight, laughter bubbling up as they switched into English right away.
“Catherine, it’s been forever. I almost guessed you were behind Resonance AI, but I never thought your own sister would take credit for it.”
“Thank you for helping me with this. It’s just… I can’t announce I’m the creator yet. I need a little more time,” Catherine replied, voice soft but determined.
Amy smiled and gave her arm a gentle squeeze. “Don’t worry, I get it.” She glanced at her phone, catching a glimpse of breaking news, then looked back up. “So, is Shirley really about to marry the CEO of The James Group?”
Catherine nodded. “Yeah. Their engagement’s this Saturday.”
Amy let out a low whistle. “The James Group is really serious about getting Resonance AI for themselves. With them behind Shirley, are you sure you can win in court?”
Confidence flickered in Catherine’s eyes. “I can do it.”
Amy nodded, determined. “I’m here for you. If you need me as your witness, say the word.”
Catherine shook her head. “I only want you involved if there’s no other way.” She already felt a little guilty for pulling Amy into her mess.
Amy was the only one who could deflect The James Group’s suspicions. She had worked in the same lab, and with her background, she fit the image of what Shirley thought the creator should look like.
Suddenly, Amy’s phone rang. She checked the screen, then held a finger to her lips and answered, her voice brisk. “Hello, who is this?”
“Amy, hi, this is Shirley. I was your junior at university. I was hoping to meet you,” Shirley said, her voice polite and a little eager.
“Hi Shirley. What can I do for you?” Amy asked. She was in Northland for a conference with Nexus Dynamics—a trip she’d chosen herself. Shirley only knew her schedule, not much else.
Catherine reached for her hand, squeezing it. “Thank you, Amy.”
Amy squeezed back, giving her a warm look. “No need for thanks. Just promise you’ll be careful. Resonance AI is The James Group’s golden ticket right now, and I don’t trust them one bit.”
Catherine smiled, her confidence shining through. “Don’t worry. I have someone looking out for me.”
“Your husband?”
She nodded. “Yeah. He keeps me safe.” The words came out with a quiet certainty. “With him around, I’m not scared of anything.”
They talked over a few more details, then Catherine sent Amy a file with some ideas for improving Resonance AI. It was enough to help fix a few of Shirley’s issues, just the right amount to keep her on the hook.

I’m glad I hung in there for all 368 chapters. This was a really good story!...
They are on a base. Alice and Shirley need to be approved and sponsored to enter. What are they worried for? Can random people just come on base?...
I’m glad the tech team has a conscience. I was also thinking the same thing about the team being the one to build it because Shirley doesn’t code anything....
This hearing is being drug out like one in real life....
How does Shirley think she can dismiss and call witnesses at will in the courtroom, telling Amy that she could leave now?...
The audacity. She just insulted his deceased wife and their child, but she wants justice? 🤣🤣...
This is the most delusional couple. Making up slights against themselves from people who couldn’t care less. Twisting everything into their own narrative of what they think and feel....
Finally. It’s all out there....
I hope he remembers to stop access to anything Alice currently has the rights to take....
Didn’t Alice bring food? She left it. I would definitely have it tested....
