City Hall.
Shirley and Waldo had just picked up their marriage certificate. Shirley held the tiny red book in her hand, realizing this thin slip of paper was her ticket to a fortune worth billions. From this moment on, she was practically Mrs. James, just waiting for the big wedding to make it official.
“Waldo, I’m kind of tired. I want to go home and rest. Will you stay with me?” Shirley asked, slipping her arm through his and giving him her sweetest look.
Waldo’s face turned cold in an instant. “You think you can rest right now? Did you fix the issue with Resonance AI?”
Shirley’s smile faded. She saw how distant he was and bit her lip. “I’m working on it.”
“Then prove it. Resonance AI is my only leverage against Nexus Dynamics. Don’t mess this up,” Waldo snapped. He didn’t wait for an answer, just walked straight to his car.
The happiness Shirley felt earlier vanished like it was never there. She knew exactly why Waldo married her. It was all about Resonance AI.
She pulled out her phone and dialed Amy, forcing herself to sound cheerful. “Amy, are you busy? I was hoping we could meet up.”
“I’m busy. Sorry, maybe next time,” Amy replied, not even hesitating.
“Amy, I really—” Shirley tried to say more.
“Sorry.” Amy ended the call.
Shirley’s expression darkened. Since when did Amy get so high and mighty? Shirley was about to become the future Mrs. James. Was there any condition Amy could ask for that she couldn’t meet?
Her phone rang again. This time it was one of her team members.
She answered, her patience wearing thin. “What now? Don’t tell me there’s another bug.”
“She’s getting anxious. The James Group is secretly working with international partners and they’re desperate to upgrade Resonance AI,” Catherine replied.
“How’s your side? Do you have all the evidence?” Amy asked.
“I’m still waiting for Veridian’s update. Once I get the video of Shirley and me entering the lab, I’ll move forward with the lawsuit against The James Group.”
“I hope you get it soon. Shirley is unbelievable. I brought up that fire, and she didn’t feel guilty at all. She lies like it’s nothing.”
“She won’t get away with it,” Catherine said, her voice icy.
The Blair Group.
Nestor had just wrapped up a meeting when he felt a tightness in his chest. Breathing was hard. He called Ulysess over. “Come with me to the hospital. I need to get checked out. My chest feels weird.”

I’m glad I hung in there for all 368 chapters. This was a really good story!...
They are on a base. Alice and Shirley need to be approved and sponsored to enter. What are they worried for? Can random people just come on base?...
I’m glad the tech team has a conscience. I was also thinking the same thing about the team being the one to build it because Shirley doesn’t code anything....
This hearing is being drug out like one in real life....
How does Shirley think she can dismiss and call witnesses at will in the courtroom, telling Amy that she could leave now?...
The audacity. She just insulted his deceased wife and their child, but she wants justice? 🤣🤣...
This is the most delusional couple. Making up slights against themselves from people who couldn’t care less. Twisting everything into their own narrative of what they think and feel....
Finally. It’s all out there....
I hope he remembers to stop access to anything Alice currently has the rights to take....
Didn’t Alice bring food? She left it. I would definitely have it tested....
