After the Fall A Leap into a Stranger's Arms novel Chapter 333

Shirley’s voice shot up, both anxious and excited. “Where is she? Please, just tell me, where is she right now?”

“She’s on vacation at a mountain resort,” the person replied.

Shirley’s heart dropped. She needed to find Amy as soon as possible and tell her in person about Catherine’s lawsuit. Amy had to know just how shameless Catherine was being.

“Get a car for me. I’m leaving right now.”

“Yes, Ms. James. The car will be waiting at the lobby entrance.”

Shirley hung up, grabbed her phone and purse, and rushed out of her office without another thought. There was only one thing on her mind. She had to reach Amy before Catherine did. If this went to court, Amy would be the key witness.

She could not let Amy side with Catherine. That was simply not an option.

The driver was already waiting downstairs. Shirley and her assistant climbed into the car. The resort was out in the suburbs, about an hour and a half away.

Shirley was sure Amy would understand. Amy had already said she wouldn’t hold a grudge, and she’d even helped with some suggestions. As long as Shirley was sincere and made it worth Amy’s while—she could even offer her a share of Resonance AI’s profits—Amy would be on her side.

Only Amy could prove that Resonance AI was Shirley’s original work.

Almost two hours later, the car pulled up at the resort at the city’s edge. The place looked peaceful and private, just the kind of spot people escaped to when they wanted to disappear. Shirley wasted no time and hurried to Amy’s room.

She paused outside to catch her breath, then hit the doorbell.

The door opened, but it wasn’t Amy. It was her assistant.

“Hello. Can I help you?” the assistant asked politely.

“Hi, I’m Shirley from The James Group. I’m also an old friend of Amy’s. I’m here to see her.”

Amy just smiled a little, not saying a word.

Shirley watched her closely, thinking that smile meant Amy was judging her. She pressed on, “Resonance AI’s early ideas did come partly from you, but the project was something my team and I poured our hearts into. Catherine has no right to just take that away. How can she say it’s hers?”

“Shirley, do you think borrowing someone’s idea counts as plagiarism?” Amy asked suddenly.

Shirley hesitated, then said carefully, “Amy, I admit I borrowed some of your ideas at the start. But didn’t you say we should let the past go? That it was all for the sake of technology?”

“I did say that,” Amy replied with a nod.

“So you’ll help me, right?” Shirley pleaded. “Please, help me prove that Resonance AI isn’t stolen. I didn’t take anyone’s ideas. If you help me, I’ll even give you a share of the profits.”

Amy gave a little laugh. “You really are generous, aren’t you?”
