“No, we quit on our own.”
“Why? Why didn’t you talk to me first? Are you really just leaving me behind?”
“Shirley, we just want to go after our dreams somewhere else. Goodbye.”
Talbot hung up. Shirley stared at her phone, her heart pounding with dread. She sucked in a shaky breath and quickly called Ted.
“Shirley,” Ted answered.
“Ted, did you submit all the evidence my team gave you?”
“All of it’s been submitted,” he said.
Shirley’s face went pale. “You need to get it back from the company right now. Those documents can’t be used. There’s a problem with them.”
“What kind of problem?” Ted sounded confused.
“A big problem. Just get them back, please.” Panic slipped into her voice.
Ted’s tone turned serious. “Shirley, the evidence has already been officially submitted and signed for. If we want to take it back, we need a valid reason and court approval. I can’t just waltz in and grab them.”
A cold panic spread inside her. It felt like her team had betrayed her—she was almost sure they’d submitted the original files, the ones from Catherine’s flash drive.
“I think my whole team sold me out. That evidence is from Catherine’s original files.”
Ted was silent for a moment, then said, “Shirley, do you want to lose this case? How could you be so careless? The court and the other side are watching closely. If we try to withdraw or change evidence without a real reason, it’ll only make things worse. They could accuse us of interfering with justice.”
“I don’t care! You have to get it back!” Shirley’s voice rose, wild with desperation. “Ted, I’m telling you, if you can’t get it back, we’re both finished!”
“I’m sorry, Shirley. I’m your lawyer, not your accomplice. I can’t just take back evidence that’s already been submitted. Goodbye.”
“The number you have dialed is not in service…”
She stared at her phone, frustrated. Why wasn’t his number working? Without hesitating, she called her mother.
“Hello?”
“Mom! I’m going to Harrisburg right now. I need to find Dad. I need him to help me with something.”
“You’re going to Harrisburg now?” Alice sounded shocked.
“Yes, I need you to come with me. This is an emergency.” Shirley didn’t wait for a reply before calling her assistant to book the earliest flight.
Meanwhile, at the international airport, a private jet was already taking off. Lawrence and Catherine were on board, on their way to Harrisburg to visit her father, planning to come back the next afternoon.

I’m glad I hung in there for all 368 chapters. This was a really good story!...
They are on a base. Alice and Shirley need to be approved and sponsored to enter. What are they worried for? Can random people just come on base?...
I’m glad the tech team has a conscience. I was also thinking the same thing about the team being the one to build it because Shirley doesn’t code anything....
This hearing is being drug out like one in real life....
How does Shirley think she can dismiss and call witnesses at will in the courtroom, telling Amy that she could leave now?...
The audacity. She just insulted his deceased wife and their child, but she wants justice? 🤣🤣...
This is the most delusional couple. Making up slights against themselves from people who couldn’t care less. Twisting everything into their own narrative of what they think and feel....
Finally. It’s all out there....
I hope he remembers to stop access to anything Alice currently has the rights to take....
Didn’t Alice bring food? She left it. I would definitely have it tested....
