Catherine gave her assistant a quick pat on the shoulder. “Thanks, I was just curious.”
Was there even a need to win him over? He was already hers.
Once the assistant left, Catherine propped her chin in her hand, lost in thought. She hadn’t expected Lawrence to be such a heartthrob at work. But honestly, with that face, that body, that whole vibe, it was no wonder he had everyone swooning.
Thinking it over, she figured it was best to keep their marriage under wraps for now. She was still new, still finding her footing. The last thing she needed was to become office gossip before she’d even settled in.
Around noon, Lawrence texted her. She slipped into a private dining room at the restaurant across the street, finding him already there, alone.
Lawrence was lounging on the sofa, looking way too good for his own good. Catherine sat down and couldn’t help teasing him. “So, Lawrence, turns out you’re pretty popular at the office. I heard all the women are after you.”
Lawrence grinned and shook his head. “It’s your first day, and you’re already digging into my secrets?”
She made a face, pretending to be annoyed. “So, are you going to admit it? There are a ton of women chasing you, right?”
He narrowed his eyes, giving her a look that made her heart skip. “Are you jealous?”
“Not at all,” she said, but the smile tugging at her lips gave her away. She leaned in, lowering her voice. “I heard Laura from PR even brought you coffee herself.”
“I turned her down,” he replied, sipping his tea like it was no big deal.
“You’re my husband. Don’t even think about letting someone else get close,” Catherine said, not bothering to hide the playful possessiveness in her voice.
Lawrence’s lips curved. “Alright, I’m only yours. No one else.”
His gaze was so intense that Catherine felt her cheeks heat up. She put on a stubborn front. “Just remember, I’ve got people watching you.”
“Okay,” Lawrence replied, his eyes softening with a smile that felt warmer than sunlight after rain.
Just then, the waiter arrived with their food. Catherine noticed every dish was something she loved. She rested her chin on her hand, gazing at Lawrence, feeling a rush of warmth. She didn’t care if he was just another office worker. She’d choose him, every time.
“Come on, eat,” Lawrence said, placing the first bite on her plate.
She couldn’t help but smile. “You really know how to spoil me, Lawrence.”
He looked up at her, eyes filled with a gentle warmth only she could see. “That’s what I’m here for.”
Lunch passed in a blur of sweet moments. Back near the office, Catherine turned back and winked at him. “I’ll head in first.”
She was taking their secret pact seriously, disappearing toward the lobby before anyone could notice.
Lawrence watched her go, a little helpless, but he respected her choice.

They are on a base. Alice and Shirley need to be approved and sponsored to enter. What are they worried for? Can random people just come on base?...
I’m glad the tech team has a conscience. I was also thinking the same thing about the team being the one to build it because Shirley doesn’t code anything....
This hearing is being drug out like one in real life....
How does Shirley think she can dismiss and call witnesses at will in the courtroom, telling Amy that she could leave now?...
The audacity. She just insulted his deceased wife and their child, but she wants justice? 🤣🤣...
This is the most delusional couple. Making up slights against themselves from people who couldn’t care less. Twisting everything into their own narrative of what they think and feel....
Finally. It’s all out there....
I hope he remembers to stop access to anything Alice currently has the rights to take....
Didn’t Alice bring food? She left it. I would definitely have it tested....
