After the Fall A Leap into a Stranger's Arms novel Chapter 99

Catherine really did love sitting outside, so she tugged Lawrence over to a quiet corner. Who could have guessed what was going through her mind right then?

She honestly didn’t care at all about Waldo or Shirley. All she wanted was to snuggle up with her husband.

“I’ll be gone for half a month,” Catherine said, resting her head on his shoulder.

“I know.” Lawrence slipped his arm around her. “As soon as I wrap things up here, I’ll come join you.”

She squeezed his hand, thinking about how he still had to help out at her dad’s company. “My dad’s business is going to keep you busy too.”

“It’s nothing. For you, it’s always worth it.”

Not far away, Waldo watched everything, disbelief written all over his face. Catherine was actually cuddling with that broke guy, right in public.

Shirley, standing next to him with her coffee, could hardly hide her sneer. What did Catherine even see in that poor excuse for a husband? Why did she treat him like he was some kind of treasure?

“Catherine and Lawrence are really lovey-dovey, huh?” she said, her voice dripping with sarcasm.

Waldo didn’t answer. His face just got darker as he squeezed his coffee cup so tight it looked like it might break.

Just then, the boarding call came over the loudspeaker. Catherine got up first, and before Lawrence could even stand, she leaned in and pressed a quick kiss to his lips. “I’m going now!”

Waldo clenched his coffee so hard it spilled all over him. Shirley quickly grabbed some napkins and tried to help. “Waldo, your shirt—”

But Waldo ignored her, his eyes glued to Catherine as she walked away toward the gate.

“I’m not going with you,” he said suddenly, then turned and stalked off.

Shirley stared after him, stunned. Was Waldo really that upset because of Catherine? She bit her lip, feeling a wave of frustration.

In first class, Catherine had just settled into her seat when Shirley walked in too, sitting right across the aisle.

Shirley couldn’t hide her shock. Lawrence actually paid for Catherine to fly first class?
