Third person pov

At lan warrior headquarters

In the dimly lit war room of General lan’s headquarters, the three Bloodrose brothers occupied the same space, yet each seemed trapped in his own storm of thoughts.

The youngest, Kane, sat slumped in his chair, staring down at nothing in particular with an absentminded gaze. His thoughts were far away, lost in memories he could no longer escape. His hands fidgeted restlessly beneath the table, fingers twisting together as if trying to hold onto something slipping away. He looked exhausted, dark circles under his eyes, his hair unkempt, and his clothes buttoned unevenly. Even in this disheveled state, his striking features remained undeniably attractive, a reminder of the family’s bloodline.

Leaning against the wall with calculated calm was Cross, the second oldest. He wore clean white robes that contrasted sharply with the tension in the room, his hair neatly tied back. At first glance, he appeared completely composed, arms crossed, eyes closed as though resting. But a closer look revealed the truth, his eyebrows kept furrowing slightly, a subtle sign of the genius mind working relentlessly behind the calm facade. He was not asleep. He was calculating, analyzing, and growing more frustrated with every passing second.

At the head of the long table sat General Ian, the eldest and most feared of the brothers. Among them, Ian was the most dangerous, a perfect blend of Kane’s raw fighting spirit and Cross’s intellect. No one could truly read what went on behind those cold eyes. Since Selene’s disappearance, the weight on his shoulders had only grown heavier. The pack was descending into chaos, and lan’s patience was wearing dangerously thin. He would tear the world apart to find his sister if he had to. The only thing keeping him from unleashing full destruction was the quiet, stubborn feeling deep in his gut that she was still alive somewhere.

Ian stared at the latest report folder for a long moment, his face completely emotionless. Then he looked up at his brothers and spoke in a low, flat voice.

It’s a dead end.”

Kane closed his eyes and gripped his head with both hands, his voice cracking with disbelief. You’ve got to be kidding me. Again?

Cross remained silent, but a deeper frown creased his brow, betraying his growing frustration.

Kane’s voice dropped even lower, almost broken. We’ve been looking for her for over a month nowDo you think she’s still alive? She has to be alive, right? Selene wouldn’t be dead.”

Normally, Kane had been the harshest toward Selene, influenced by Sienna. He had hated her, or at least he had convinced himself he did. But now that she was gone, the guilt had finally crashed over him.

He realized how terribly he had treated his younger sister, a girl who had never truly done anything to deserve his cruelty. She had only ever wanted his love when they were children. She had tried so hard. And he had given her nothing but pain. Even now, he still didn’t fully understand why he had been so awful to her.

The thought that Selene might truly be dead haunted him relentlessly. He didn’t want her to die. Even after all the cruel things he had done to her in the past, she was still his sister. He kept remembering the

times when she was small, how she had begged for his attention, calling him older brother with such hope in her voice, trying so desperately to make him notice her. And all he had done was push her away, hurt her more, and ruin whatever light she had left.

He could never forgive himself if something had truly happened to her. His lips trembled as he bit down hard, fighting the urge to break down right there in front of his brothers.

Meanwhile, Cross remained calm, leaning against the wall with his eyes closed. He kept replaying memories of her, those striking blackandwhite strands of hair she always kept hidden, the warmth in her blue eyes, and the gentle smile she had given him before she disappeared. He remembered everything now. She had been the one who saved him when he was a child.

Back then, he had been poisoned. Even after his life was saved, the toxin remained, causing anything he touched to wither and die. The temple feared him. They locked him away in isolation. He had given up, waiting to rot away in the darkness. Then one day, a little girl with covered hair and bright blue eyes had stumbled into his place. At first he had tried to push her away, warning her that she would die if she touched him.

Everyone else had always run. But she had simply taken his hand, smiled, and said, Don’t be dramatic, big brother. You’re alone. I’m alone. Let’s be friends.

Her touch hadn’t killed her. His poison hadn’t worked on her. After that, she visited him every day, talking to him, keeping him company, giving him a reason to keep living. She never removed the covering from her hair, so he never saw her true appearance. When he was finally healed, he searched for her and found Sienna first, the girl who acted as if she had been the one visiting him all along. He had believed her without question and promised to protect her.

He never noticed the quiet blackandwhitehaired sister who watched him with hurt in her eyes. Sienna had always complained that Selene hurt her, so he had protected Sienna instead. Everything changed after Selene fell into the river. She became different, stronger, colder, and more defiant. Slowly, his eyes had begun to open.

Being near Sienna started to feel wrong. Being near Selene felt warm, like the childhood comfort he had once known. That was why his attitude toward her had shifted. And after she disappeared, the truth crashed over him completely. Sienna had lied. She had manipulated both him and Kane, making their lives miserable for Selene. Cross’s jaw clenched tightly at the memory. He had not yet confronted Sienna, because finding Selene came first. But when he did, he would make her regret everything.

Ian placed the latest report document down on the table with a thud, his voice low as he spoke. She is not in the forbidden forest.

Kane immediately looked up, his tired eyes widening with desperate hope. Are you sure, big brother? Maybe you didn’t search well enough—

Ian cut him off. I had my best men track her scent. They spent two full weeks there. She is not there.

Kane ran a hand through his messy hair, his voice cracking with disbelief. We have checked everywhere. She is nowhere. Where is she?

Cross, who had been leaning silently against the wall with his eyes closed, finally opened them. His sharp mind had been working the entire time. We have not checked everywhere.”

Kane turned to him, confused and frustrated. Seriously? Where? Is there another pack we haven’t

Ian’s gaze snapped to Cross immediately, his eyes darkening with realization as he understood exactly where his brother’s thoughts were heading. Cross nodded slowly and said, Yes. The Crimson Pack, the territory that belongs to the demon of the west.”

Kane froze, his entire body going pale as the name sank in. Tthat is impossible-
