Everyone standing in the garden had stopped moving. No one was even breathing hard. They were all staring at me as if I were the devil herself, or worse, some coldblooded monster that had crawled out of their nightmares.

I looked at them for a moment, my gaze lazy and unbothered, before I finally stood up from the chair and stretched my arms slowly above my head. Then I turned to the group of noblewomen with a polite, and gentle smile and said, This was a nice garden party. I apologise for interrupting you. You can continue and have some fun, ladies.”

The women immediately looked away, as if meeting my eyes for even a second would be a death sentence. I remembered every single one of them. These were Sienna’s loyal background women, the ones who had helped her bully and isolate me in my past lives. While Sienna played the innocent saint, pretending she had nothing to do with the cruelty, these women had been her willing hands, spreading rumors, laughing at me, and making my life hell. They had always been the perfect tools for her.

But I wasn’t the same person anymore. I wasn’t going to fall for that innocent act again, and I wasn’t going to let any of them think they could get away with what they had done.

My smile widened. The women trembled visibly, their hands clenching tightly around their dresses as if they were trying to hold themselves together.

I turned around to leave, with Silas and Evelyn quietly falling into step behind me, when I stopped and glanced back at Princess Avery. I smiled at her warmly and said, Princess Avery, let’s go.”

Avery pointed at herself in surprise. Mme?

I nodded. Yes. Sometimes you just have to leave a place full of idiots before their stupidity becomes contagious.

The other women’s faces turned bright red with embarrassment and humiliation. Avery immediately nodded and stepped forward to walk beside me. Oof course. Let’s go.”

I smiled at her nervous yet genuinely happy expression. She looked so much lighter now, as if a heavy weight had finally been lifted from her shoulders.

Before we left, I let my gaze drift one last time to Sienna. She was still standing there, pale as a ghost, her entire body shaking with terror. I loved the look on her face. It was almost exactly like the one I had worn in my past life, right before I drove the blade into my own chest because of them. I was going to perfect that look on her. I wanted her to feel every ounce of the fear and helplessness she had once made me feel.

With that satisfying thought, I turned and walked out of the garden.

Outside, a small but elegant carriage was waiting. I looked at it, then turned to Princess Avery with a soft smile. Before I could say anything, Avery suddenly threw her arms around my neck and hugged me tightly, her voice breaking with emotion.

You’re alive. Thank the gods, you’re alive, Selene. I’m so happy you’re alive.

She held me close, no longer the cold, distant princess from the garden. Now she looked soft and

innocent, as if the heavy burden she had been carrying had finally been lifted. I wrapped my arms around her gently, feeling a warmth in my chest.

I was truly happy to have met someone like Avery in this lifetime.

In my past life, I couldn’t protect her from Sienna.

Avery had never been like the others who fawned over my sister. She was proud, intelligent, and refused to bow to Sienna’s fake sweetness. Because of that, Sienna made her life a living hell. She arranged for Avery to be sent away from the pack as a political gift, a concubine to a cruel Alpha in a distant territory.

That Alpha mistreated her terribly, especially because of her strong personality. Not many Alphas could handle a woman who refused to be broken. Avery had begged to leave that place. She had even written to her brother, Adrian, asking for help. But every request was quietly shut down, thanks to Sienna’s influence. I had been on the front lines during that time, fighting battles far away, completely unaware of what was happening to her.

It wasn’t until much later that I heard the truth, Princess Avery had killed herself after the Alpha turned her into a sex slave for his warriors to use whenever they needed to vent their frustrations.

The memory still left a bitter taste in my mouth. But this was my tenth life, and things had changed. I was no longer the powerless girl who could only watch from the shadows. This time, I was not going to let anything happen to her. I would protect her with everything I had.

I gently patted Avery’s back, Thank you, Avery.
