Alpha’s Rue: His Shunned Luna (Athena Enchanted) novel Chapter 246

Chapter 246

A few hours later, I’ve searched every inch of my room, where someone could hide, including the back of my closet. I’ve locked every window and drawn the curtains, leaving the lights on so I can see.

There are a few light knocks on my door, “Aeliana? Baby, are you awake?” Kingston asks, knocking a few more times.

I squeeze my pillow, watching the door with an aching heart. How do I tell him, where do I begin? How do I not ruin his life too? I wanted to run to him, I wanted the safety of his arms, but I wasn’t going to ruin Rowan and Danielle’s night for that.

“How is she?” I hear someone ask, Danielle. That’s her voice.

“I think she’s asleep,” he sighs. “The door is locked from the inside.”

“She looked pretty tired and shaken up when I saw her in the hallway,” Danielle tells him. “She might be tipsy and still nursing the hangover from those celebratory shots she had with Rowan after dinner yesterday.”

I hear Kingston hum his agreement. “I hope that’s it, Damien told me she had him search her room before she went inside.”

“Just being safe,” Danielle retorts. “There were a lot of people here tonight, Audrey doesn’t know the meaning of small gathering.”

“I’ll go to bed,” he tells her, averting the conversation about Audrdy. “You should do the same. You’ve had a long day.”

“I feel fine,” she says with a light laugh. “Plus I’m waiting for Rowan to come back from dropping Noah off, she has some work thing early morning.”

Noah. That’s it.

I scramble for my phone as soon as the voices fade into the night. I don’t call Noah just yet, my finger hovers for a very long time before I decide to call. I need to talk to someone, someone who understands, someone whose perspective will help.

Noah answers on the second ring, “Hello.”

“My Noah,” I swallow, fiddling with the blanket”

“My Ellie,” her voice grows more lively, sweet. “You’re awake.”

“Yes,” I nod to myself. “Are you alone? If not just say something else, anything.”

“I’m alone,” she says. “Sidekick just dropped me off at mine, and I am so

so fucking drunk, my Ellie.”

“Oh.”

“Is everything okay?” she asks, clearing her throat. She sounds serious now, heavily concerned but there’s a mild slur in her words. “You sound sleepy.”

“Can I ask you something?” I pause, “I mean, I know it was my rule and we aren’t supposed to speak about it.”

I don’t have to say more, she instantly understands where I’m coming from. “Oh, oh, that something,” she muses. “Yeah, go on. What is it?”

“Are you sure I can ask?” I whisper, not wanting to trigger her simply because I’m not in the right state of mind.

“Yes.”

I swallow, careful with my words and tone. “What would you do if he came back?”

“I’d be the one to kill him this time,” she snickers. “But sadly, that’s an unachievable dream, he’s never coming back, you killed him.” She reminds me, whispering now. “He’s burning in hell or suffering in another entity.”

“Killed him.” I echo, staring down my phone.

“Are you okay? You sound…”

“Just drunk,” I snort out a laugh, but I’ve not been this sober in days. “And curious. Lock your doors, okay?” I tell her. There’s no knowing what that monster is doing in the dead of night. What if he followed her?

Noah giggles on the other end, “Yes ma’am.”

“I love you,” I tell her.

“I love you too.” She says, blowing kisses before the line cuts.

Kill him.

Yeah. I nod to myself.

I should kill him, I need to kill that monster just like I did the other monster who tried to hurt Noah, that’s it. I’ve done it before, I killed Drayton so he would never hurt Noah. My body froze when I walked in on him forcing himself on her, and I snapped, I couldn’t stand by and watch. I couldn’t walk away either, my wounds felt too fresh, and I did what I should’ve done to my monster, what I was too weak to do.

But it’s not too late, he can meet Drayton’s fate, that monster is never going to hurt me, he won’t make Kingston hate me again, I’m going to kill him. “Yes.” I nod to myself, getting out of bed.

I promised myself I’d never go to Kingston’s room, but that’s where my heart and feet lead me. I don’t think I’ll get any rest alone in my bed knowing he won’t check in because I locked the door, and I pretended to be asleep.

The door to Kingston’s bedroom is slightly ajar so I let myself in, trying not to look at anything as I follow his scent to the bathroom where it’s strongest. Sure enough, Kingston is in his jacuzzi, head leaned back with his eyes closed. I notice him shift when I enter, and I know right then he can feel my presence, but he doesn’t open his eyes yet,

“Kingston,” I call, his eyes snapping open now.

“Yes, Siren?”

“I need you,” I say, the words that have been in my mind all night, I wanted to go to him, to tell him but..

He shifts, sitting up straighter. “What’s wrong, baby?” He asks, watching me with evident concern.

‘I miss you, that’s all.” I say, stepping inside,

“Whoa,” he gasps, staring wide-eyed at me, “You just got in the water with your clothes on.”

“They’ll dry,” I say, settling between his legs, my head against his chest so I can hear what calm sounds like while being held by it. “Hold me,” I softly say. “I can’t fall asleep.”

“You want me to put you to bed?” He asks, and all I can do is nod. “I can do that, but we have to get to bed, it’s not safe to sleep here, we could very well drown.”
