Chapter 254
AELIANA
Kingston picked me up from his parents’ house before dinner, he had reservations for us somewhere else. He’s been begging me to enforce date nights and I finally agreed, we can have a night or two every week to ourselves. Danielle and Rowan came along, and it was quite refreshing. Danielle has become much happier since finding out she’s pregnant, and I find her company much nicer now. She’s around the house more, and so we wind up spending some time together.
We were halfway through dinner when Kingston got a call from Damien, who was panicking and telling him River had gone into labour. Last time I saw River, that time being about four hours ago, she was sure she wouldn’t go into labour until a month from now.
Dinner was cut short, and we drove straight to the hospital. Rowan and Danielle are in front of Kingston and me, moving hastily to meet the pup and when we arrive, River is sitting up in the hospital bed with a drink in her hands, while Damien holds Alex, and a few feet away from River is a bassinet where Danielle is already swooning over the baby. “Auntie Ellie!” Alex screams as I hug Damien, who looks very disheveled like he was the one who laboured.
“Hi sweetheart,” I smile, kissing his cheek. I’ve only spent a few hours with him in total, but Alex is very fond of me, and I love him too. I’ve never been close to my brother’s kids, but I’m close to Alex, and I want to be a good Auntie to both him and his baby brother.
Alex reaches for me, and I carry him, going over to River. “Hey,” I grin.
She mirrors my smile. “Hi.”
“That was a short month.’
She laughs, “Vittoria sent me into labour.” She says, “She worked my nerves and muscles.”
“Come on,” Damien groans. “My sister isn’t that bad.’
“Congratulations,” I tell her, rubbing her arm. “How do you feel?”
“Tired,” she sighs, her eyes shifting to the bassinet that everyone is crowding. People really do ignore the mom when the baby comes. “But it’s worth it.”
“I can’t,” Danielle pouts, her voice breaking in a wholesome way. “Can I hold him?” She asks, looking over her shoulder to where River is.
“Yes, I carried him six months, it’s time for someone else to.”
Danielle wastes no time, she picks him and cradles him, she’s a natural. “How cute, look at him, babe.” She tells Rowan, pouting.
Rowan nods, looking down at the bundled-up pup. “Adorable.”
“Of course he is,” Damien snickers. “He takes after his daddy.” He says, winking at them.
“Mommy, can I hold baby brother again?”
River nods, slurping at her drink. “Of course, Bubba, ask Auntie Ellie to help you.”
“Me?” I frown.
She nods, grinning confidently. What the hell am I supposed to do with a baby? My eyes cut to Kingston, and he

nods to the armchair. I sit down with Alex in my lap, and Danielle brings the baby over, placing him in my arms, but Alex jumps off my lap to make room for him. “Aww,” My heart melts the moment I look at him. He is surprisingly light, his little eyes closed, and he repeatedly stirs softly. “He’s so small.”
“They come a lot smaller than that,” River laughs.
“Hi baby,” I smile down at him, tapping his tiny nose. “You’re so handsome, you’re so new, you’re making me smile.”
I hear River laugh, “I think Luna has finally caught baby fever.”
I nod, “You know what? I get it now.”
“You do?” Kingston asks, his voice low, the surprise not lost to me or anyone in this room
My gaze lifts to his and I nod, “Yeah, he’s unbelievable.”
I quickly look down when I catch a little hand pressing down on the bundled-up creature in my arms. “Alex, don’t poke your brother.” I scold.
Alex pouts, “He kicked me a lot, mommy said I can have my turn when he’s here.”
“Give him a minute to grow.”
Kingston moves fast, sitting on the armrest and putting Alex in his lap.
“Wait until he’s bigger,” I laugh.
Alex huffs, arms crossed over his chest as he stares down at his little brother, “You’d better grow bigger Elian.”
I pause, my heart skipping a literal beat as I turn to face River and Damien. “Elian?” I frown.
River nods, “Yeah, did he not tell you? Damien.” She scolds.
“I forgot, love,” Damien says, kissing her hand. “This is Elian Vale, Eli for short. He’s named after his daddy’s favourite sister.”
Vittoria. Angelina. Celeste.
I mentally listen to his sister’s, trying to figure out which one of them it is that he got the pup’s name from.
“Luna Aeliana,” River says, clearing up the confusion that must be evident on my face.
“Me?” I swallow.
“Yeah, A.” Damien nods. “I told you we were naming this one after you.”
“That’s so sweet,” Danielle gushes, “I’m going to cry.”
“You said if it was a girl.”
River laughs, holding his hand still. “It was the only name we could agree on, and we will still name our daughter Aeliana if we ever have one.” She says, “I love that name.”
My heart swells, no one has ever loved my name this much except for the woman who named me, my mom, Gods rest her soul. When I was young, people always had comments about how I spell it, why I don’t have a better name, but River and Damien appreciate it.
“Next year,” Damien smiles, laughing when River’s smile falls. “Kidding.”

Kingston groans, “How the hell am I supposed to top this?” He frowns, “How do I prove I love my wife the most when you two named a whole kid after her?”
Damien shrugs, “There’s only one way to go from here,” he feigns a sigh. “You need to give her one that she can name after me.”
Kingston’s response is instant, “Like hell I’d name my child after you.” He snaps, as if not registering that Damien is kidding.
