We spent all of yesterday in Raven Claw, Aeliana didn’t want to leave until it was really late, and we wound up spending the night at the Packhouse, with Calen between us. I slept with empty arms and one eye open, still unsure if I can trust Alpha Grayson just yet. We don’t go from strangers to friends simply because he allowed me to visit.

However, the trip was a success, and when we left, there were a few tears, not from the kid, but from my wife. At least she sobbed after our ride to the airport started. We left right after breakfast, and my car was waiting at the airport for us right where we left it yesterday. Exactly six hours later, we’re finally home, sitting in the car still.

“Did you have fun?” I ask her, reclining in my seat.

She nods, smiling as wide as she has since I told her who it is that we were seeing in Ravenclaw. “Yeah, I liked visiting him, but I wish we didn’t have to go.”

“Are you sure you don’t want the kid?” I ask, recalling how tightly she hugged the boy before we left. “Alpha Grayson is kissing my ass right now, he would do anything to please me, and his kids aren’t off the table.”

“I don’t want you buying a kid off him.” She snickers, “It’s fine. Calen is happy, right?”

I nod. “Seems so”

“Good, because I want nothing but joy for all the kids. I think I’ll start accompanying the sisters to the routine welfare checks on all the adopted kids.”

“Sounds like a good idea,” I smile. “I’m glad you enjoyed yourself, but I have to get to work before Rowan jumps in, he’s been more than helpful when I’m with you, but he’s going through something,” I tell her, killing the engine and reaching for my phone in the backseat.

Aeliana doesn’t speak, I have one hand on the door when she finally says something. “King?”

“Yes, Siren?” I pause.

“I got the job.”

“You did?” I smile, the news is not much of a surprise to me because who would get it if not my genius wife?

She nods, “Yes, I saw the email while I was playing on my phone with Calen this morning.”

I lean in close, kissing her cheek. “Congratulations baby, you deserve it,” I kiss her again. “They’re lucky to have you.”

She shifts, “Are you okay with it?” She asks, her eyes searching mine.

I’ve wanted her to get this job since she lost her previous one because of me, i wanted her to have this, but she didn’t want me to pull any strings in her landing it. “Why wouldn’t I be?” I frown. “You’re doing something that you love.”
