Chapter 274
AELIANA
Today is my first day of lecturing at Vale University and I’m losing it. They offered me an office, but I didn’t take it, most lecturers hang out in the lounge, and I’m more comfortable here than I would’ve been alone in my office. The Professor I’m sharing my office with didn’t come in today, so I stuck to the lounge. I’ve been here for three hours, rehearsing my lesson for today. I’m almost going crazy, trying to think of questions the students might have and how to answer them. I just can’t screw this up.
“Luna Aeliana,” one of the professors startles me. I jump when I see her in my peripheral vision.
“Yes?”
“There’s someone at the door for you,” she smiles, nodding towards the door.
Everyone at the table pauses, all of us turning towards the door. I feel like a huge weight has been lifted off my shoulders when I see who it is. Noah. “Professor Fren, what do we owe the pleasure?” Professor Bradford asks.
Noah smiles, “I’m here for my work wife.” She says, flickering her fingers in a wave motion. “Hello, my Ellie.”
“Hi, my honey,” I smile, nervously tapping my pen on the table. She notices and raises an eyebrow.
“You already claimed her?” Tracey gasps, another Professor from our department. “That’s not fair.”
Noah shrugs, flipping her hair over her shoulder. “Sorry ladies, she’s been mine for a while, and gentlemen, you should be thanking me…” she trails off, eyeing the whole room. “Alpha Kingston is not a patient man, you can’t make his wife your work wife.”
“You’ve done it,” Professor Bradford snickers.
“I’m the exception,” Noah counters, winking at him. “But if you tried it, then you’d be eaten alive.
The room grows awfully quiet. “Stop scaring them. They know their Alpha is a rational man.”
“Yes, that’s very true, Luna Aeliana,” Tracey says.
“Professor Hartley,” I gently correct her. “Mrs Vale, or simpmy Aeliana, but not Luna, please, not on campus,” I tell her. I want to feel like one of them, for them to treat me like one of their co-workers and not their Luna.
She nods. “Okay, Professor Hartley,” she says, her left eye twitching when she calls me that. “You’re very right about our Alpha, he is indeed a kind and tolerant man, but messing with one’s mate is unacceptable.”
“Since we’re coworkers,” Professor Bradford clears his throat. “I assume I can say I fear he’s very possessive?”
“We both are,” I truthfully say. When people see him around me they think he’s highly possessive, but I overtake him in that department, he just handles me well.
“She’s more possessive over him,” Noah tells them, still standing by the door. The educators’ lounge isn’t exactly her favourite place on campus, but according to the others, she does pop in a couple of times a week to just say hi to everyone, and that’s about it. Very Noah of her.
Melanie gasps, “I read this book where the President cut off his leg because the prime minister brushed over it, and his wife didn’t like it. Is it like that with you two?”
“Oh, Professor Nelson.” Tracey snarls, “Not your horror stories again, seriously, that’s horrifying.”
“Humans aren’t that possessive,” Professor Bradford tells them.

“But there are quite a few who are too crazy and would pull that off.” Melanie counters.
“As nice as this conversation is,” Noah frowns. “I have to steal my work wife for a moment before her class.”
“I’m preparing,” I frown, tapping the pile of papers surrounding me.
“We’re discussing sick behaviours,” she points out, gesturing around the room. No one seems to be working anymore. “Let me give you a pep talk. Come on.”
“Go with her, Luna,” Professor Bradford sighs. “She’s not going to stop until she gets her way.”
Noah gasps, a hand flying to her chest, but instead of making à scene, she simply smiles, wide and pleased. You’ve grown to know me so well, how cute. My Ellie?”
