Alpha’s Rue: His Shunned Luna (Athena Enchanted) novel Chapter 275

Chapter 275

“Yeah, I’ve been going through my lesson plan for two hours, I have thirty more minutes, I can-”

“No.” She frowns, “You’re panicking, stop it.”

I knew I was going overboard with preparations 1, but I hoped it wasn’t noticeable to anyone else. “Why did you say the p word?” I groan, “What if I get a panic attack in front of my new students and freeze? They’ll laugh at me.”

“No one will laugh,” she says, laughing herself. “Seriously, you are their Luna, and you’re not going to have a panic attack. You’ve done this before.”

I shake my head, I’ve never had a whole class before, not this big. “Not really.”

Noah sighs. “There’s nothing new about it, just go in, introduce yourself, ask how far they’ve gone, how comfortable they are with certain topics, and their familiarity with your class content, you’ll be fine. I just had your class at ten, and they are well-behaved. You’ve got this.” She says, patting my shoulder.

“You’re right, I can.” I nod, “It’s not rocket science.”

“But if it was, you’d be excellent still.”

That brings a genuine smile to my lips. “Thanks my Noah.”

“You’re welcome,” she grins. “I figured you needed an Aeliana Hartley pep talk, so I gave you an original.”

“I didn’t realise those were my words.”

“You say plenty of wise things,” she pets my head. “That side, fly into the nest you call class and feed those hungry brains.”

“I shall.”

“Good, I wish I could sit in, but I’m tired.” She yawns, stretching so hard I hear her bones creak. “I’ve had four back-to-back classes, and I called a massage therapist to meet me at home in an hour, so I gotta go, but I wish I could stay.”

“It’s fine my Honey, go rest.” I tell her, “You deserve it, you’ve overworked yourself lately.”

“And underfucked,” she pouts, “I think I’m turning into a virgin monk.”

I can’t help but laugh, her workload has gotten more serious over the last couple of days. “Don’t worry, I’ll work in an extra minute dedicated to you when Kingston and I celebraté later.” I wink, butterflies dancing in my stomach at the thought of him. “He said he had something planned, and I just know it’ll end with me getting the best orgasm of my life again, and again.”

“Stop bragging,” she whines. “I don’t need a pity dedication, I’ll put my toys to work.”

“Goodbye, Professor Fren,” I say, opening my arms for her.

“Bye baby,” she sighs, throwing her arms around me. “Teach safe, drive safe, fuck safe, and don’t forget to tell me when you get home.”

“Will do.”

“Love you,” she says, kissing my cheek and then pulling away.

“Love you more,” I grin. “To infinity and beyond.”

Noah walks away with a tired smile and I return to my seat. “Okay, where was I…” I sigh, scanning my notes again until I find the last paragraph I read. “Yeah, right.”

“Professor Hartley,” someone calls, I turn around to find the Dean at the door. “The last sub gave your theology class a group assignment which is due today, you don’t have to grade it, but do collect it.”

“Oh, why don’t I have to grade it?”

He pauses, looking a little lost. “Well, you didn’t issue it, so you can give out another one to add to their continuous assessment.”

“I’ll grade it, Dean,” I say with a polite smile. “The students spent time on time, it’d be a shame to ignore that, and besides, it’ll give me insight into what I’m working with.”

“Very well then,” he nods. “You may carry on.”

I spend about twenty minutes putting my notes together only to walk into class two minutes late without them. The class is full when I arrive, and the turnout is pretty good, attendance on my school tablet shows an eighty seven percent student sign-in, a feature I wish all universities had.

The moment I walk into the room, it grows very quiet. “Hello class,” I clear my throat. “My name is Ms Aeliana Hartley,” I say out of habit, “Vale.” I quickly add, because my husband will be sulking all night if I forget the very obvious and public detail of being his wife. “And I’ll be your part-time I.T.T. 101 Professor.”

“You’re Luna Aeliana,” one of the students gasps.

I nod, “Yes I am.”

“How can you be our Professor?” Another asks.

I pause, unsure of how to answer his question. “Because I have credentials that prove I can take on this class?”

“Oh, no. I mean you’re busy, right? Luna’s are always-”

“Okay, when I’m here, forget I’m your Luna,” I tell them, because I myself will be forgetting I’m their Luna when I step into this room. “From the second I enter those gates, I’m here as your Professor. You address me as Professor Hartley, or Mrs Vale if you’re feeling spirited,” I jest, getting a few laughs. “I’ll be your Professor for the foreseeable future, and my working hours are just like your other professors. I’m in the office all day on Wednesdays, so if you need anything or have questions, that’s the best time to see me. Does anyone have questions?”

Another student raises their hand. “Yeah, why did you choose to teach? You have a great job, you’re Luna.” She says, her question causing loud murmurs among the class.

“Okay,” I put my hand up, signalling silence. “So any mention of the word Luna is prohibited unless related to this class. Is that clear?”

A couple of ‘Yes, ma’am,’ and ‘,Yes, Professor Hartley,’ echoes the room, and I nod.

“Good, if there are no academic questions, then let us begin…from the beginning, like a refresher course.” I smile.

“Luna..Professor,” the student corrects himself. “We’ve gone up to section D of our lesson plan already.”

“Consider this a recap,” I say. “We’re just brushing over it and then we’ll move, this is my way of making sure we are on the same page. It’ll also help those scared to speak up.”
