Chapter 308
“Because she shouldn’t be having a baby,” I snap, the same anger from earlier returning. “It’s selfish of her to do this, she doesn’t care about anything but herself.”
Doctor Eleanor watches me carefully, “Are you worried for the pup?”
“I’m sorry for it,” I snicker. “They’re going to groom another demon like them.”
“They?” she leans forward. “Who are you referring to?”
“My sister and her husband,” I swallow. “He is worse than she is, I fucking hate him.”
“I’m assuming this sentiment isn’t influenced by recent events because you told me that you barely see
him at home.”
I nod. That was two days ago, she asked me how I was taking them being in my house, and I lied to her again. “He is a monster, I can’t believe her, why would she have a child with a man like him?” I sneer, my stomach coiling with disgust. “Someone who hurts other people’s children? He’ll hurt their child too, he’ll ruin its life, it’s what he does.”
“That’s a lot of emotion, Aeliana.”
“Sorry, it’s very upsetting.” I suck in a breath, realising I’m ranting at the top of my voice, but she remains calm. “I just…” I shake my head, the next word about to be a repetition of what I already expressed. My
hatred for him.
“I’ve noticed you never mention him by name, why is that?” She softly asks. “And why do you feel he’ll ruin a child’s life?”
“Because he did it before, to me,” I say, the words leaving my mouth before I can stop them, and I can’t take them back because it’s the truth. “He ruined my life.”
“Do you mind telling me how?”
I nod.
That’s the reason I’m here, right? I knew we’d have to get to this part sometime, but not this soon, I was hoping to forget it, for her to never ask, but I brought it up. “I guess we’re going to have to get to that part somehow,” I say with a nervous laugh.
“Safe space.” Doctor Eleanor reminds me.
“It’s a long uneventful story, so I’ll skip through-”
“No, tell me everything.” She says, her voice low, calm, but there’s an undertone of command to it. Nothing that happened to you is insignificant, everything that negatively or positively impacts you is important. You don’t have to sugarcoat anything for me, you can tell me your stories as raw as you can.”
It’s disturbing.

I don’t think she wants the details, I don’t want the details either, but they’re etched into my brain.
“I’ve been a therapist for five years, Aeliana.” She says with a slight smile. “I can handle it, tell me what happened, and how it affected you.” She urges.
Again, my eyes fall to my hands. “You’ve seen how, everyone has, and now they think I’m crazy,” I
mumble.
Doctor simply stares, she’s learned my tricks already, learned what I do when I’m about to shift the conversation, and while it worked in my first session, it hasn’t worked after that. She chooses not to indulge when I begin to stray or look for loopholes.
“Eight years ago, I went to a party.” I begin, the memory so fresh like it happened just last night. “I was sick that night and I couldn’t….I didn’t want to go anywhere, but my sister forced me to go with her because then our parents would think we were out studying at Audrey’s house.”
She nods for me to continue.
