“Aeliana.”

“I fucking hate him,” I snap. “Do you know what he said when I asked him why he did that to me?”

“What did he say?”

“That I asked for it, that I was a tease.” I snicker, holding the tears back. “I didn’t do it, I wasn’t flirting, I wasn’t looking, I was merely existing, and he still chose to hurt me. He ruined intimacy for me, for years, my skin crawled every time a man touched me. Even today, I get so scared when I’m touched by a stranger, he fucked me up, and he still wants more.”

“Who was it?”

“Brandon,” I tell her, swallowing down the bile that rises in my throat from saying his name. “Seraphine’s husband, he was the demon who-” I pause when I hear someone talking.

“Kingston, what the hell is taking so Long?”

Kingston?

My eyes snap towards the door, and I’m met with wide glassy eyes. How long has he been standing there? Why didn’t I feel him close? Why didn’t he make a sound?

“Aeliana,” he rasps, stumbling into the room, but Rowan catches him before he falls. “What’s going on?” Rowan frowns, trying to steady Kingston, but he can’t seem to stand upright.

“Alpha Kingston,” Doctor Eleanor gasps, her eyes shifting between us.

“What the fuck, Aeliana?” Why..why didn’t you tell me?”

“I’m sorry,” I shake my head, pained by the look on his face. “I..I love you.”

“Eight years…” he trails off, eyes wide and his skin paling more with every passing second.

“What’s happening here?” Rowan asks, still trying to keep Kingston up.

“He touched you,” he says, something unfamiliar flickering in his eyes as he tumbles over, slipping from Rowan’s hold. “I can’t..” he gags, a choked sound escaping from his throat. I know it’s coming so I close my eyes for a second, heavy tears streaming down my face.

There’s nothing louder than the sound of him retching on the floor. “Kingston,” I finally move from my

seat.

“No, no…don’t look at me,” he chokes out, coughing violently. “Don’t, baby, please..” he begs, looking away. I sickened him, I knew this would happen, he doesn’t want me anymore.

“I’m sorry,” I say, moving closer, but the closer I get, the further back he scoots. “I’m so sorry.”

“Don’t,” he groans, pushing to his feet and sprinting out the door with remarkable haste.
