Chapter 311
KINGSTON
I run out of Eleanor’s house like I’m escaping a fire.
I had frozen at the door when I heard Aeliana talking, I wanted to turn away, but I couldn’t after hearing Eleanor say she was drugged. I don’t know why I stayed, but I couldn’t stomach it.
Brandon raped her, he filmed it, ruined her reputation, and still dared to come into my house and attempt it all over again. I can’t breathe, there’s an unfamiliar anguish clawing at my chest. My wolf is roaring, I
need to hunt, I need to find Brandon and make him pay for what he did to her.
I can hear her calling for me as I leave, but I don’t turn around. I can’t face her.
I can’t wrap my head around what I heard.
For eight years, eight long years, she has been living with that burden because no one dared listen to her. She tried to tell me once, when I returned from the academy, but I had so many things on my mind and I didn’t hear her out. I expressed my disappointment when I hadn’t even seen the videos. I treated her like everyone else. She said it wasn’t true, but I insulted her character, I should have known better. Had I trusted her that man would’ve been long deep, but now? He’s even more dead than he would’ve been back then.
“Kingston wait up,” Rowan growls, tugging at my sleeve. “What’s going on?”
“He hurt her,” I tell him. “He hurt my mate, he hurt my best friend…”
“What are you saying? What’s happening here?” He frowns, “You went to tell doctor Eleanor we would be back an hour late, and now you’re sweating, she’s crying, her therapist looks horrified, what the hell happened in there?”
“He touched her,” I repeat, unable to get past that fact. “He violated her and I didn’t do anything about it, I promised I’d always protect her, and when it came down to it I turned a blind eye to it!”
“What? Who hurt her?”
“Brandon,” I growl, my chest seizing. “He raped my mate, Row. He filmed it, and he’s..he is in my house.” I gasp, “I let him stay in my house and he tried to assault her again.”
“What? Fi-filmed?” His eyes widen. “When did this happen? How did no one notice?”
“Eight years ago,” I swallow. “And no one cared, everyone was quick to turn on her, and I did the same,” I say, my voice strained. I know her better than anyone, and I let the opinions of others blind my judgment. “She needed me, she needed her friend, her safe place, and I took that away because I thought-”
“This is …I don’t know what to say, but you have to go back in there, she needs you right now.”
“I can’t, I’m ashamed of myself.” I swallow, “I can’t face her, I need to fix this, I need to fix my mistake, I need to get her justice.” I tell him, fighting the door to the driver’s seat.
“Kingston, stop.” Rowan tugs at my arm. “You’re not thinking right.”

“Give me the keys,” I demand. “I’m thinking just right, I’m going to make that bastard pay for what he did to Aeliana, I’m going to kill him.”
Aeliana screams, the sound dulls out here, but for the first time, my instincts fail me. I don’t run to her, but away from her. “King, you can’t leave right now.” Rowan sighs. “She needs….”
“Keys,” I demand. She doesn’t need the man who failed her, what she needs is the man who will protect her at all costs.
Rowan takes them out of his pocket and I snatch them, “Take care of her, I’ll send a car for you.” I tell him, sliding into the driver’s seat while he paces in despair. “Don’t leave her alone, Rowan.”
I drive away before he can say yes, but I know he’ll take care of her. Eleanor’s house is a little farther from the house than the hospital is, but I drive fast, barely slowing down for speed humps. I need to find Brandon, I need to rectify my mistake, only then can I go back to her. Only then will I be worthy of comforting her.
The pack house is still as silent as it was when I left, Audrey is out on the porch, an empty chair beside her. “Where is he?”
