Chapter 316
AELIANA
He threw up.
He ran
He’s so disgusted by what happened to me that he couldn’t bear to look at me for another second can’t breathe, I seem to have lost all control over my emotions. There’s a stabbing pain in my chest that refuses to go away. Doctor Eleanor keeps telling me to breathe, but I am breathing, the one time it’s okay for a panic attack to hit me, it doesn’t.
“Aeliana, it’s not your fault.”
“He left me,” I sniff. “I knew this would happen, this is why I never told him. I was going to die with this shame, but you forced me to speak about it! You forced me to ruin my relationship.”
“I’m only trying to help you,” she says, rubbing my back. “Your mate loves you.”
“And where is he? Not here, right? I lost him, no one wants to be with a woman like me.”
“Aeliana-”
I shake my head, “You don’t know him, Doctor Eleanor. He’s possessive, he doesn’t like people touching what’s his, and I’m his! I was…I’m no good anymore, I’m just…”
“Hey, remember what we talked about in your other session? Positive.”
Positive?
There is nothing positive about Kingston leaving me, he doesn’t leave me so why did he leave me now? Why did he give up on me like this? “Aeliana?”
I look up, my vision blurred, but I only see Rowan at the door. He’s really gone.
“Beta, where is Alpha Kingston?” Doctor Eleanor asks.
“He left,” he quietly says.
“You see?” I turn to Dr Eleanor, my chest seizing repeatedly. “I told you. He’s never coming back to me,
I’ve lost him, and it’s all that demon’s fault, he ruined us, he left me.”
“Kingston didn’t leave you, Aeli, he’s just…” he trails off, coming close, buying himself time. “He has something to take care of.”
“He said nothing was more important than me, so why is he gone?” I choke out. “Don’t lie to me, Rowan. He doesn’t love me anymore, does he? Is it because I lied? Is that why he doesn’t want me?”
Rowan pulls me against his chest, petting my head the very same way that Kingston does. It should help, but it hurts. “He loves you very much, you know that. He’ll always love you, you’re his favourite person in

the world.”
“So why is he gone?” I sob into his chest.
“Because he knows you’ll be safe with me. He asked me to stay with you, he’ll be home,” he tells me, his voice more than certain, but I don’t believe him, I don’t know how to when he’s gone, when he didn’t want me touching him. It was like he realised I wasn’t the right choice after all, like he wished he’d never
touched me. “I promise he doesn’t hate you for lying.”
“He threw up,” I painfully recall. “He’s disgusted by me.”
“No, never. He was just shocked.”
I pull back, my hands closing together in hopeful prayer. “Tell him to come back, please.” I swallow, the desperation in my voice giving me away. “I’ll beg if he wants to, I’ll do anything Rowan just please…”
Rowan’s lips part, but he doesn’t speak. For a moment, I fear he’s done with me too, but then he reaches into his pocket and steps aside. “Okay, let me call him.”
I watch as he paces. He calls three times, shooting me pitiful glances every time his calls go unanswered. When I see him dial a fourth time, I shake my head. “You can stop, Row. He is clearly done with me, he’ll never love me again.” I swallow, my mind immediately going back to Audrey. “He is going to go back to her, he regrets me, doesn’t he?”
“Come on, he’s not that shallow,” Rowan swallows, still staring at me like I’m a wounded pup by the roadside. “You know him.” He says, his eyes dropping to the phone in his hand. “Let’s go home, the car is outside. Kingston sent it, we’ll meet him there, you’ll see he isn’t-”
“There’s a reason he didn’t take me home, why would he send a separate car if he was headed there anyway?” I frown, wiping my tears away. “It doesn’t make sense, Rowan. I think we’re over.” I say, gathering what little strength I have to pull myself up and follow him to the car.
