I don’t know how to pretend I’m unaffected by this, I don’t know how I’ll live with his rejection, I just want him back. I know I sound pathetic, even to myself, but I don’t care, I love Kingston, I want him in my life always I can’t bear to see him with someone else, we’re fated, that should mean something, right? At least he made me believe it did until he ran out on me.

I work on my tears the whole way home, I’ve never had trouble just turning them off but I can’t seem to, I settle for holding back my cries. I don’t let out a sound, I swallow it all down, staring out the window the entire car ride back. Every time Rowan gets a text, or a call, I’m hopeful it’s Kingston, but it isn’t. First, it’s Uncle Dante, then it’s Danielle.

When we finally get home, it’s clean, absolutely no sign of me unravelling, and I would absolutely forget any of it had happened had Kingston been here. Noah finds me the second I sit down, “My baby,” she pouts, coming to sit by me. “Are you okay?”

I nod. “Lexie, bring Aeliana some water,” Rowan says, settling in the seat opposite us, watching carefully.

“I don’t want water, I don’t want anything.”

“Please work with me,” he sighs. “You haven’t eaten at all, you need to at least drink something.”

Noah rubs my arm. “I’ll make her eat.”

“I don’t want to, my Noah.”

“Water then?” She raises an eyebrow. “Or I’m shoving food down your throat.”

She’s not kidding, so I make the easier choice. “Water.”

Noah gives me a small smile, shifting uncomfortably. My eyes shift between her and Rowan, neither one speaks, but Noah is avoiding eye contact, and Rowan can’t keep his eyes off her, he’s staring a little too hard. What’s going on between them?

“Aeliana!” I hear Seraphine gasp, jogging down the stairs with Audrey behind her.

I immediately look away.

“Stay away from her,” Noah warns.

Seraphine doesn’t exactly listen, she stops a few feet away from my seat, pouting. “I’m so sorry, Aeliana. I didn’t know Brandon was that way, I believe you.”

“Believe me?” I scoff. When I went back home that morning, she was cackling and grinning widely while I was scolded and insulted. “I didn’t ask you to believe in me. Don’t you think it’s a bit too late to play that part? I’ve already lost everything, you should go and celebrate already.”

“Why would I celebrate you being rapped?” Her eyes soften, tears gleaming in the corners of her eyes.”

Rowan sighs, “Where’s Kingston?” He asks, the mere mention of his name having me in tears. I swallow down the cry in my throat and swipe my tears away.
