Chapter 323
“We umm, I think that’s all of it. We handled it.”
“Court adjourned then.”
“Actually no,” Gamma Cole says. “We have yet to discuss what happens to the body of the man you murdered, Alpha Kingston.”
Gamma Hartley snarls, “What is your obsession with that piece of filth?”
“Gamma Cole is right,” Elder Campbell says. “We have to offer condolences to his pack, and-”
“I’m not offering shit,” Kingston snaps. “And nobody offers it on my behalf, or else you’ll join him.
“But Alpha Kingston, we have to send his body for burial.”
His response is quick, harsh. “I’m not spending money on that bastard, he doesn’t deserve a proper sendoff, he should be thrown to the crocodiles that way he can be useful for once.
“We can’t do that son,” my husband sighs, and I frown with Kingston because I happen to like his idea better. Tradition be dammned, that man dared to hurt Aeliana, he hurt one of ours, she’s like a daughter to me, I can’t imagine that happening to any of mine. I would’ve killed him with my bare hands too. “We have to follow law and tradition for the sake of peace, Fenwick has it out for me.”
Kingston sighs, “I will offer two trash bags for his packaging.” He says, the words making me smile.
“Packaging?” Elder Xander finally speaks, his face white as a ghost.
“Gamma Hartley, won’t you say anything?” Gamma Cole asks. “Your daughter is married to that man.”
“My daughter was also assaulted by him, I can’t do anything for him.” He retorts, “Seraphine will not attend his funeral either, we welcomed Brandon into our home, I treated him like a son, and he hurt my daughter. The only thing I have left from my fated, and he hurt her.” He chokes out, his face furrowing. It’s the most emotion I’ve seen from him since his first wife died. “Alpha Kingston is right, he deserves nothing. I offer three more trash bags in case he leaks out of the first two.”
“Trash bags?” Elder Winston gasps.
“Yes, is that not where trash belongs?”
“For once, I agree with you, Father–in–Law.” Kingston nods.
“The boy is already dead,” Gamma Venice says. “If we can’t send it in a proper casket, and we can’t offer condolences, then what can we do? Because we can’t keep him on pack grounds, not after his crimes towards our Luna.”
This seems like a topic that will go back and forth, so I excuse myself. Aeliana is still outside where I left her, staring into space while Vittoria works on her sculpture. She doesn’t notice me until I sit down next to her, startling her. “Mom Estelle.”
