Alpha’s Rue: His Shunned Luna (Athena Enchanted) novel Chapter 322

Chapter 322

“What?”

“Gamma Cole, enlighten them.” He says, nodding at Audrey’s father.

Gamma Coles straightens in his seat, “I hear the man who died had been seeing the Luna.”

“He wasn’t seeing her,” Kingston snaps. “She is seeing no one. That bastard took advantage of my wife, he took advantage of a defenceless girl, and as for Gamma Hartley, he failed to protect that very girl.”

“Son, tone.” My husband warns, Kingston isn’t yelling, his tone just carries a certain chill to it, a chill that has the whole room silent.

My breath catches in my throat, “Explain yourself clearly.” I tell him, my mind running wild with possibilities.

“You all want to hear the truth, the blunt truth?” he shifts, straightening in his seat. “Fine, that bastard raped my wife, my mate,” his voice cracks. “He raped her years ago, and none of you did anything!” He growls.

I gasp, so that’s why she was hurt? Had she gotten hurt while trying to fight him off? I’m shocked beyond words, my heart is beating so fast it’s almost suffocating. “You,” he points at Gamma Hartley, who is just as shocked as everyone else in the room. “You are her father, but you didn’t have any faith in her, you believed her attacker, you let Aeliana feel she was at fault, all of you in this room did!”

“What?” Gamma Hartley swallows, “I–I–I didn’t know anything.”

“When did this happen?” I manage to ask.

“Eight years ago,” he says. Eight years? Eight years ago was around the time that Aeliana had that sex scandal that broke the pack. “He recorded himself doing it, and he never got punished, he made duplicates,” his face twists with disgust. “He made fake pictures of her, fake videos, and you all just took it! I don’t expect that there’s a way you’d have known, but you’re at fault for the way you treated her.”

“My daughter,” Gamma Hartley gasps, his voice broken.

“Yes, your daughter!” Kingston snaps. “Somehow you forget she’s your daughter when your reputation is at stake. You raised her, Gamma Bryan, and yet you have no idea what kind of person she is.” He swallows. “Aeliana has protected your reputation for years, and you thought she threw that away? Your approval was all she ever got, and you took that away.”

“Oh my goodness, poor Aeliana.” Beta Nicholas says, kissing his teeth. Everyone at the table is shocked, silent.

“You all at this table were the leaders,” he reminds us, his voice stern and scolding. He doesn’t yell, but his words are enough to put us in check. “The pack was counting on you, she was counting on you, but no one batted an eye, I was the one who made sure those videos and pictures never saw the light again, but that wasn’t enough. That bastard kept trying to assault my wife again.”

“How would you have handled it if that were your daughter?” He counters, “Would you still be talking this way if that was your Audrey that he assaulted?”

“It wouldn’t be,” Gamma Cole snickers. “My daughter is cultured.‘

“Cultured?” He scoffs. “How dare you speak ill of my daughter?” he grits through his teeth, punching Gamma Cole. “She’s your Luna, have some respect.”

“Gentlemen, stop.” My husband groans.

“Alpha Dante, he’s…‘

“The next person to insinuate that anything that happened to my wife is her fault will bleed out on this floor.”

“Kingston,” I gasp.

Regardless of the situation, he doesn’t and shouldn’t make threats at the pack council. It’s bad enough he hit Gamma Hartley, any other Gamma would have made a big deal out of it. “You already failed her once as elders and leaders of this pack, don’t fail her a second time as her subordinates.” He quietly says, his tone still carrying the same scolding tone from earlier. “I will not tolerate any slander from you about my wife’s character, so tread carefully because I’m itching for my next kill, Brandon wasn’t enough, so if you feel the need to act smart, and are for the idea that Aeliana did anything to warrant assault raise your hands…” he trails off, staring around the room. Everyone is oddly silent at that, scared almost. “None? Excellent, now that that’s handled, let’s move on. Why the hell was I called here?”
