“How?” I frown. “We didn’t talk, remember? This session is the most that we have spoken in years. I don’t remember speaking this much to you, or Pandora, and you’re supposed to be my parents.” I sigh, “It hurt me, Gareth always made it up to me when you ignored me, but I wanted my Father since I couldn’t have my mom.”
“I was always there, Aeliana.” He says, his voice strangled. “I’m sorry I dumped my duties on your brother, but seeing you is hard.”
“I know, you said that.”
“I was hoping we’d have a second chance when Kingston wanted to marry you, but you tried to run away.”
“You forced me to marry him.” I counter.
“Because I wanted to keep my daughter, I wanted to know more about you,” he says. “I’d heard wonderful things from strangers when I visited your workplace.”
My heart skips a beat, my what?
I was all alone in Clinshore. “You never visited.”
“I did, every year on your birthday.”
“You know my birthday?” I gasp, the shock evident in my voice.
“It’s a very important date, Aeliana.”
“Right,” I nod. “Mom died then.”
“No, it’s twice as important.” He argues. “You were born, and your mom got to fulfil our dream. You are not responsible for her death, I had no idea you felt that way.”
“Gareth thinks so too,” I say, recalling one of the biggest fights we had a long time ago and he came back bleeding after that and he apologised.
“He’s an idiot,” he shakes his head. I set him straight already.”
“You punched him.”
