Alpha’s Rue: His Shunned Luna (Athena Enchanted) novel Chapter 328

“Well, that’s time.” Doctor Eleanor says, staring at the wall behind us. “Aeliana, how do you feel about Mr Hartley coming in again?”

“He doesn’t need to,” I shift. “I think we can work things out on our own, but you’ve been of great help, thank you.”

“Yes, thank you, Doctor.” My father says. “Our previous session helped me a lot today.”

“You had a previous session?”

He nods, “I didn’t want to say the wrong things, I needed to know how to approach this session.”

I’m beyond shocked, flattered even. My father came to therapy twice for me? Maybe he does love me, and I was too blinded by my own insecurities. “Can we see those movies today?” I ask, “I have nowhere to go.”

“Yes.”

“I’ll see you on Thursday, Doctor Eleanor. Thanks.” I say, rising.

Father gets up too and nods at her, “Good day.”

Kingston had dropped me off, and just like our previous sessions, he was supposed to pick me up earlier, but I ask him to wait at home as I leave the hospital. He agrees to pick me up from my father's house and asks that I nicely warn him he's dead if I get hurt or sad.

Father and I don’t speak much the entire ride back to the house, but it’s not awkward between us, it’s comfortable. It carries on into the house too, it seems vacant, Mom must be with Seraphine now.

“Dad, whose house was that behind Mom in that picture?” I ask, finally breaking the silence between us.

“Mine and your mother's,” he says, sorting through old tapes. “Or now yours, I planned to give it to you on your eighteenth birthday, but you were gone and didn’t return for your twenty-first. It felt right to keep for you since we were going to move in after you were born, but I couldn’t leave this place, it had her touch, her memories.”
