AELIANA
Working at VU is such a delight, but it’s harder than my job in Clinshore was. I was just a T.A back then, but this time? I don’t even feel like a substitute. The professor I'm supposed to be subbing for has only shown up once at the office, and she simply packed her belongings from our office and left without saying goodbye.
I had to sub for Noah’s class today because she didn't want to come in this morning, and I offered to sub for her since she was subbing for me a whole week. After that, I happened to have two classes of my own and individual assignments to grade, which left me utterly exhausted.
Kingston was working from home today, something about site mappings, but he didn’t explain further, just said it's a routine thing. But no one does these things just out of routine, routine is every five years, and Mooncrest does not get attacked at all.
When I finally arrive home sometime after seven, Kingston is nowhere to be seen. I start looking for him when I freshen up, finding him in his bedroom, shirtless and glued to a laptop with papers scattered all around his bed and table.
“Hey,” I clear my throat, waving at him from the door.
He looks up, his lips curving into a slight smile. “You’re back.” He says, immediately setting the device aside.
“Yes, Rowan picked me up from work,” I tell him, crawling into his lap. “He is being very sweet.” I smile, leaning down to kiss him.
“Hmm, and you believe he did that for you?”
“Of course not,” I snort. I know the real reason he showed up, but I was hoping to get Kingston jealous by telling him I left my car at VU and came with Rowan. “He just wanted to see my Noah, but my Noah wasn’t at work, and she’s not in any of the clubs she frequently visits, he hasn’t seen her recently.”
“It’s been days since she left,” he frowns, “I think he misses her, he’s looking somewhat miserable.”
“He is,” I nod.
Anyone with eyes can see Rowan looks like a pup who lost his favourite teddy, and it’s confusing because he is with his mate daily. He loves Dani, he’s always trying with her, but not seeing Noah is making him look lost. She’s punishing him for kissing her again.
“Should I talk to him?” Kingston asks, pulling me from the train of thought that I shouldn’t be on.
“No, you should talk to me,” I tell him, we said we’d stay out of Noah and Rowan's matter, but we keep gossiping about them and hearing about the other from them.
“I am talking to you.”
“A little more in sync,” my head tilts, “I’ve missed you too, you know. You haven’t been with me in…”
“I’m always with you when you get off work,” he frowns. “And before that, and we’re together right now.”
“Kingston don’t play dumb,” I say with an eyeroll. “You know what I mean.”
His eyebrows knitt together, adamant on playing dumb. “Hmm?” He frowns, knowing exactly what I mean. He really wants me to spell it out for him, and I do.
“Why haven’t you touched me?” I pause, his lips part and I can hear his excuse before he speaks. “Holding me doesn’t count, I like that I’m in your arms, but I miss feeling you inside me too.”
