Sierra gave Yara’s cheek a gentle pinch and then looked up at Jane. “The cafeteria covers all three meals a day for free.

“Since you’re not a certified zookeeper yet, you’ll just be doing regular intern tasks for now. If you get certified, you can apply to go full-time.”

Jane nodded, her voice trembling with excitement. “I’d love to!”

With food and a roof over her head taken care of, she finally felt like she could breathe easy.

Much later, whenever Jane thought back on these days, she couldn’t help but feel that all the misfortune she’d suffered in her life had finally led her to this stroke of luck, meeting Sierra.

After settling Jane in, Sierra asked May, Angel’s keeper, to show her the ropes.

But as soon as she went live, Sierra noticed something was off. Not only were there way more viewers than usual, but the chat was blowing up with all sorts of strange comments.

Sierra stared at the comments, completely lost. “Seriously, what are you guys even talking about?”

She thought, ‘I’m supposed to be filming in showbiz again? Did I miss a memo or something?’

[Oh, please, quit playing dumb. Brock already announced on Twitter that you’re the female lead in Legend of Harmony.]

Sierra quickly grabbed her backup phone and logged into Twitter.

She quickly found Brock and the Legend of Harmony crew’s official page, which everyone was talking about.

Just three hours ago, the official Legend of Harmony Twitter account had tagged her, welcoming her as the female lead.

Sierra was confused.

The chat in the livestream was still full of passive-aggressive digs and backhanded comments.

Ethan looked pretty grim as he stepped forward. “I’ve already reached out to Mr. Carter to help cool down the trending topic. We’re still talking to the crew to figure out what’s really going on. Sierra, you…”

They’d been watching the livestream the whole time and saw the general public and a bunch of haters flood the chat with insults.

Honestly, Ethan couldn’t help but admire how tough Sierra was.

If he had to deal with that kind of hate every day, he’d probably get depressed. But Sierra just acted like it was nothing. She said, “I’ll give everyone an explanation,” and ended the stream.

Ethan’s eyes were full of worry.

Sierra reassured them, “Ethan, you guys don’t need to worry. I think I know who’s behind this.”

Ethan asked, “So what are you gonna do now?”

“I’m going to the Sterling residence!” Sierra replied.

Her tone was resolute, and for once, her eyes flashed with anger.

Ever since she came back, she’d never gone out of her way to mess with the Sterlings, but they just kept coming after her, again and again.

Even a worm would turn, and she is no worm.

It was Sharon’s birthday, and to show off how much he valued his wife, Jimmy always threw a lavish party in the Sterling residence every year, and even livestreamed the entire event for the world to watch.

Every year, Sharon would end up trending online because of it.

The Sterling family was already at the top of the elite circle, and there were always plenty of people trying to network or curry favor at these events.

Even before the party officially started, the lawn behind the villa was already packed with people.

Sharon was dressed to the nines, looking every bit the socialite as she sipped from her wine glass, but her eyes kept drifting toward the entrance of the party.

Natalie, standing nearby, knew Sharon had been hoping Sierra would show up. That was why she’d been so distracted all day.

Sharon snapped out of her thoughts, and seeing Natalie looking so sweet and well-behaved, she felt a bit more at ease. She admitted, “I’m just watching to see if Sierra shows up.”

After all, Sierra was her own daughter. Though she thought she was a real handful sometimes, no matter what, she was still

her own kid.

Sharon was really hoping Sierra would come to her birthday party.

She gave Shawn a look and said, “Shawn, go check the door and see if Sierra’s here yet.”

He just couldn’t figure out why, after all Sierra had done, the family was still willing to give her another shot.

Sharon shook her head, clearly not agreeing. “She was just talking out of anger. Jon smashed her phone, and Nat made mistakes too. She thought we didn’t love her. That’s why she acts out. Shawn, you should be kinder to Sierra.”

For some reason, Sharon had been feeling uneasy lately, and today was especially bad. She just couldn’t focus, like something big was about to happen.

Sharon’s brow furrowed without her even realizing it.

Natalie saw this and scoffed inwardly, ‘They always talk about being more understanding of Sierra, but every time it comes to her, they’d just tear her down, like they wish she’d vanish off the face of the earth.

‘Acting all sentimental now? What a joke. Crocodile tears, seriously. They pretend to care, but deep down, they can’t wait for Sierra to disappear.’

Natalie shot them a mocking look, but her lips curled into a sweet smile.

“Shawn, Mom’s right. Sierra comes from a humble background, so it’s hard for her to fit in with our family. That’s why we should be even more tolerant of her,” she said.

Natalie snuggled up to Sharon, batting her eyes playfully. “But Mom, you really did Sierra a big favor. She’s bound to show up today.”

‘Whether she comes with gratitude or a grudge, that’s anyone’s guess,’ Natalie sneered inwardly.
